WBZZ to stay talk

>> jack to 1010?<<
NOT.
According to this press release which outlines what Howards affiliates will be doing starting now and in January, WBZZ will remain a talk station come January. What I don't get is it says that WBZZ's talk format will be new. Correct me if I'm wrong, are they not already a talk station? Or will they be re-launching the station in a different talk direction. If they go with the free-FM format that's now out there it will sound kind'a funny saying free-FM AM1010.

Thank you, SBE. No doubt, he's a legend, but what, really, has he contributed to the radio industry lately? All I've heard from him since this whole Sirius thing started, was non-stop whining and complaining... very similar to the whining and complaining I've heard by so called radio types I've found myself surrounded by for many years. It got old real fast. January can't come soon enough, and I hope he just fades away like some far off Class A FM.

1010 Going local in the Mornings?

Check out this Joel Hollander quote as reported by All Access.

On a conference call TUESDAY, HOLLANDER called the strategy "the culmination of ten months, a lot of work, a lot of sweat." He noted that the plan involves "a total of 10 different solutions" including local solutions in AUSTIN and TAMPA.

He was talking about the Stern Replacement scenarios. A local solution in Tampa, could we be talking about the return of Cowhead and Brent?

Most likely Progressive Talk, or less likely (but possible) Spanish language talk.

With Salem in the market, conservative talk has hit critical mass, sports talk is covered, and all local news would take a huge investment, not likely on 1010's small signal.

Not Progressive Talk if they're staying with a local solution....

Infinity's CEO supposedly said on the conference call that they're imposing a local solution in Tampa. That would seem to preclude progressive talk. The local staff existing at 1010 the Buzz is not liberal-talk-friendly. C'mon....
Air America and the Sport Chix? Air America and Cowhead? Seems like they're staying with some variant on the Buzz theme... maybe 1010 Spike??

Re: stern is an old man

>Stern is lucky! His ride was getting old. He stepped in a big pile of luck w/sirius. Dont get my wrong, I have loved stern over the years. but now Im pushing 40 & frankly the T&A is getting a bit old. I wish him all the best.

Actually I'm wondering if he didn't mean Orlando, where they are going with Drew Garabo, formerly of Real Radio 104.1... maybe they simulcast him here.<P ID="signature">______________

Check the Orlando board. Drew is apparently NOT replacing Stern.

Howard <yawn> Stern. Is he gone yet? <zzzzzzzz> Those who try so hard to shock and offend, only bore.

No more Orlando programming.

UGGGH! No more Orlando "talent". I'd rather drink poison than listen to those small market guys.

The only show I liked was the afternoon Fiasco on 98. I hated the Monters. I've litened to the rest of the programming on 104.1 and it is nothing to write home about. Sorry folks.
