What does this have to do with Atlanta terrestrial radio?

blah, blah, blah...Infinity/CBS couldn't put Stern on Z93 because of some deal they cut with Jesse Helms regarding Infinity's buyout of other stations...so the Greaseman did his time on Z93...now both Z93 and Helms are dead and Cox 86ed Grease down in Jax...blah blah blah...

Kind of a stretch, huh?

Stern's fans are still trying to pretend he matters. Satellite Radio is already old technology. When Wi-Fi hits the dashboard, the idea of paying for radio is going, going, gone.

Agreed. And Stern said exactly that himself on his show Thursday. By then, he will be retired and watching everybody beat the crap out of each other for SIM card time.

It's not his fans, it's him who's pretending he still matters. Until this skirmish came up between him and Sirius, I had forgotten about Howard Stern. He's about as boring as David Letterman is now. They both should have retired 10 years ago.

He might be pretending he still matters, but he's collecting $400 million to do that.

$2008 a minute according to Radio-info, talk about something for nothing.
Sirius spends like they're runing the government.

If Mel is stupid enough to pay him that much, more power to Stern. Can't fault Stern for that. I know he can't be making XM/Sirius that much money a year.

Which is why I don't think they will be around in 5 years unless they get their spending under control.
They seem to be putting it all on future new car sales...they might lose money on every sale but make it up on volume.

I've gotten my XM sub half off for the past 3 years by using a promo code the first year, and then asking to cancel the second and third.

Wifey has been driving the car with satellite for the past year, so I'm back to MP3s and terrestrial.

What I could do is upgrade to the online listening plan and see how well I can stream it on a phone. But, being a button-pusher, that won't work well and if you don't mind sticking with a single stream, there are plenty of free ones. I need to see if I can get someone's broadcast of Underground Garage on TuneIn. Can anyone recommend a good 80s free Internet feed?
