How long before the Jack bubble bursts? This format will not work everywhere, people. I predict 2007.
______________

They were Hot AC in the mid 90s. The Heritage was over at that point IMO.
______________

WOMP started to die back when KeyMarket took over.
Clear Channel had put KISS-FM on the air in the meantime (sometime around 2001 I believe...it was called The Zone before relaunching as KISS), first on 105.5 and later on 95.7
Clear Channel had the better product at that point and KeyMarket just turned around and let them crush WOMP instead of putting up a fight (one they likely could have won, IMO).

I still believe WOMP could have been fixed but they went the cheap route. Sad to see it fade away.

Clear Channel should snatch up those calls.

And isn't there still a WOMP-AM????

Yes. Daytimer on 1290, soon to be ESPN. As long as they hold onto the WOMP call, it's locked up.

Questions for folks about that new "JACK" in the Ohio Valley -

Is it running ABC Radio Networks' new "JACK FM" 24/7 format? ABC picked up the satellite rights to it some time ago, and is now in competition with Westwood One's "SAM".

From the WOMP-FM website, it appears they are using the official version.

Damn, I was sad when I found out the news. I worked at WOMP FM for 5 years as The New Guy" in the late 90's and I got out as the ship started sinking in the early 00's.
I spent most of my 20's there, and have some really great memories of that place. Although Wheeling is a lame town, it was a great place to start and I will never forget it! On my last shift on my last day, they let me play a LAST song and go out in style. I signed off, and played " GOODBYE TO YOU" by Michelle Branch as my farewell song. GOODBYE TO YOU, WOMP FM, this time, for good.

Sounds like it's coming off the bird. On the half hour breaks songs fade and go straight into stop sets. Also mostly liners refer to "Jack-FM" I am rarely hearing 100.5 JACK-FM. Plus I've heard fading of songs at the end of a commercial break,(stop set ends a few seconds early, computer dumps back into the net) then liner then another song. Also top of the hour ID is locally produced not using the Jack voice.

As you can tell I've been listening to them while I'm on the road between sales calls.
