Steve Adamson

on 11 Alive last night announced he was leaving the station after 10 years. No mention of where he was going. Anybody got any inside poop as to where he will land?

I guess this means 11 Alive will no longer be the Atlanta TV affiliate for Precision Weather, a service that Steve Adamson had help build up for many years. More information about them is at http://www.precisionweather.com/. I just went to the site, and there's no press release on whether or not he's leaving Precision Weather as well. They're headquartered in Cumberland, ME. We do have a radio affiliate here in the Atlanta area in Cumming that airs the forecasts, and it's Rock Solid Victory 91.5 WWEV-FM. I'll be listening on Monday to see if he comes on the air with a refreshed forecast, or one of the other meteorologists from out of state may come to take his place. As for his ties he had with 11 Alive, we'll have to wait and see who will either be his new replacement or temporary fill-in.

Friday was a dark day at WXIA. Yes, it was Steve's last day, but also the HR Manager, the Webmaster, and a senior Engineer. Ratings are in a free-fall and revenues are in a steep-decline. Morale has never been lower. It is not just the infront of the camera people, but an enormous amount of behind the scenes talent has either been let go or left. More big names to come in the coming months.

And now you have Wes Sarginson popping up tonight on 46. It makes me wonder why he couldn't do that special report for 11...

I tuned in to Rock Solid Victory 91.5 at 7:00 P.M. earlier tonight to listen to see if Steve Adamson was still with Precision Weather. The good news is he still is thus he was doing the Precision Weather 20/20 Forecast.

When I was watching the 7PM newscast Friday night on channel 11, I heard Steve Adamson say something about "aviation" as if he's looking to go that direction with his career. Does make me wonder since Wes Sarginson popped up on channel 46 if anyone else from channel 11 might also pop up there.

This is funny (odd, funny) because when I was watching Wes's report, I remember Steve having a story about a B-17 Bomber when it was at PDK.

11Alives news has really been bad lately. Monday nights 6pm news started off real bad. Looks as though the teleprompter wasnt working and Ted had to read his script. He kept looking down to read and never made eye contact with the camera. They were supposed to go to a live shot with Paul Crawley and that didnt happen. I switched over to CBS Atlanta News until 6:30 and was pleasantly surprised by a very good product. I may have made the switch!!!

Apparently...WXIA/WATL management didn't want their reporters flying in the sky (other then the station's chopper) because they were scared something might happen (READ: insurance reasons - we are too cheap to buy insurance). WXIA was offered Wes' report, but refused.

Again...another TV news person that got caught up in a system involving management having to look after profits first. I hope Steve lands on his feet soon. In this economy...it will be tough.

Commuter Dude was a Web Producer, not the Webmaster. Commuter Dude was another failed experiment that did not work.

I am not sure if anyone has seen the May book, but WXIA got hammered. Down in all newscasts, behind WGCL in the key demos, such as 25-54 and women. There was staggering drop off in overall viewers in the 5-7am time period, and the 11pm is now far behind WGCL.
