Fired WCBS anchor Steve Bartelstein has been hired by WCBS as weekend morning anchor and will start November 10th.

That was uncalled for. The man was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer and is currently undergoing treatment, which will explain why he will be bald when he returns.

He was on the 5 p.m. news today talking about it after a piece from Dr. Max Gomez on testicular cancer.

He also revealed to Adams then that CBS had approached him the day he was fired.

I didn't know that either, but he took a jab at himself being bald yesterday morning

Just looking at this article and thinking about Bartelstein in recent years - SO inspirational to watch him, with EVERYTHING he's gone through - i had the pleasure of meeting him and hearing him speak a couple of months ago out here in Brooklyn - he is AWE-SOME to watch, has a GREAT story, and deserves EVERY positive acknowledgement he gets; i'm SO GLAD he's looking well... :'(

One story mentioned that he was upset because they mailed his paycheck to his house. He has always picked it up in person.

So I guess that maybe they deducted the postage from his check and that sent him over the edge of not being appreciated. At least he was getting a paycheck. Especially in this day and age of widespread layoffs and such.
