STEVE BRYANT...WHERE ARE U?

Hey, Steve, just a note from your old on-air sparring partner, Mary Cantell. I was laid off Sept. 12 in a national layoff by Metro Traffic. If this was a cost-cutting measure on their part, I think they "cut" the wrong talent! Anyway, I wanted to re-connect and see where you are in this crazy business of ours. Our times on WCOJ were the best! It don't get much better than sparring with you! Please give me a shout: [email protected]. If anyone knows of a need for an on-air traffic maven, please advise. Thank you!

I know Steve sometimes reads and posts on these boards. I know some time after he left WCOJ he ended up at the Shop-At-Home Network in Nashville, TN. I communicated with him a few times and know that he left Shop-At-Home after they were sold to Jewelry Television in June 2006. I haven't heard from him since June of 07 so I don't know if he's still in the Nashville area or not. And I know his website is http://www.stevebryant.tv/

Occasionally, unless he had a falling out with them as well, he is a caller to "The Jay and Randy Show", mornings on 1520/WCHE - West Chester, PA. Streaming worldwide at www.wche1520.com

Mary, best of luck to you in your future endeavors. Hopefully, your voice will grace our airwaves again soon.

Steve was also a contributor to "The Radio Racket".

Last I heard of Steve, Jay & Randy were actually playing one of his latest songs, "Drill Here, Drill Now", and accused country singer Aaron Tippin of ripping the idea off of Steve!

Mary,
I got to work with you a few times and of course heard you all over the dial.
You were funny, annoying, spacey, informative, aggravating, and opinionated... In short, you made for good radio.
Not so bad a thing for traffic updates. I already miss you, Deb, and Rod Carson. You are so right, the wrong people got the axe.
Good luck. I hope you hit the ground running and find your way back to where you want to be.

Steve just submitted a new song to Jay and Randy on WCHE called "The Fed's Plan" done to the Beatles "Taxman." Very funny. They have been playing it the past few mornings.

First of all, Mary, as a person who has heard and enjoyed your work, my best wishes to you on your future endeavors.

As for your old "on-air sparring partner", Steve, as alluded to above, is currently living in the Nashville area and provides parodies and other content for various nationally syndicated programs. Some of his recent songs have been heard on shows hosted by Jeff Katz, Jim Sumter, Rollye James, and Mike Gallagher among others. Moreover, Steve's material has even made the cable news rounds with parodies heard on CNN, FOX News, and MSNBC.

Away from the recording studio, he's also freelancing as a teacher at one of the greater Nashville area's learning institutions.

Candidly, I'm honored to be currently working alongside the talented Mr. Bryant (he paid me to say that, lol) on a successful "late night" internet venture which you can learn about on his website, www.stevebryant.tv. Let's just say, if you liked his brand of humor on TV and radio, you'll love it on the 'net.

Hope that gives you enough of an idea of how he's doing.

Thank you, gentleman, for lending the helpful information, compliments and much appreciated support! God bless...

Why am I not surprised that Metro laid off people who had been there FOREVER, some close to 20 years. Jeez, Carson STARTED traffic in this town. I never worked for a company that cared less about their employees and actually went out of their way to show employees how worthless they were. Sorry, Mary, you were/are one of the Best!!!

That said, Steve Bryant, what a breath of fresh air in this industry! Worked with him very briefly at WDEL about, oh, 7 or 8 years ago. Very talented musician, too.

Steve just called the WCHE morning show to comment on WCOJ's demise.
