Steve Conley now working the All Request Lunch Hour in Tunica?

I'd like to request a pastrami on rye and Sierra Mist, hold the ice. And be quick about it.

That's quite a leap! Has he gone from dispensing from the prize closet to actually cleaning them? My only advice is that golf shirts generally don't have thick enough fabric to hold a name badge at the proper general public reading angle, so a light jacket works best. It also helps keep the shirt clean when flipping trash cans into your cart.

So...is Buzz_fiddlesticks Ron Olsen, Tim Spencer, or whom?

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I do detect a bit of bitterness.....

Or how about this possibility: simply Mr. Karma and his orchestra

There really is no longer need for any brown nosing, unless someone's looking to score a casino job. I sure hope not.

Ahh, that explains it:

Buzz was a brown noser and it still didn't work out for him.

Darn it, I should have gotten that job in Tunica...grumble grumble.

But like other post said I guess Mr Karma got hold of Steve so he can sweep up cigarette butts all day and direct people to restrooms.

Nice taunts, but they are pretty useless on those of us with self esteem. If you must use stock gibberish though, I would prefer, "I know you are, but what am I?" Or being flexible, I'll accept anything that involves a coherent thought. You can take a few days to craft such a sentence if you need it, since there are really no deadlines here, and working under a dim light in the basement can be hard on the eyes.

Dang, Bird. I never thought it'd be YOU to bring on Armageddon!

Personally, I thought Steve was great with the all-request lunch hour! I could tell that Steve loves Memphis; he lives Memphis! He was one of the best cheerleaders for the city while he was on FM-100. I think that says a lot about him that he did not return to Wisconsin after leaving FM-100. Maybe he doesn't like the cold winters there! ;D

Seriously, I think whatever happened to Steve is a shame. It just points up all that is wrong with the state of radio today. A veteran announcer, who is one of the best at his game, is apparently just suddenly let go. ??? And also apparently, despite his experience, he cannot find another similar radio position, in Memphis or anywhere else. Either that, or he is able to make more money outside the radio industry. That has become true for me, too. But I am nowhere near the legend that he is. Evidently, nowadays, it doesn't matter if you are one of the best in the industry, if someone else will do the same job for less, you have suddenly become "overqualified" for the job. Talent counts for nothing these days. The only thing that matters to the large corporations that own radio stations now, is who (or what, in the case of automation and voice-tracking) can do the same job for the least amount of money! :(

I haven't been able to listen to Memphis radio on any kind of regular basis in close to 20 years. But I still miss Steve and Tom, among others.

Okay, that's all. I will get off the soapbox now.

A few days after the FM100 slaughter, I was talking to a friend who would be in a different slaughter meer days later. They were told Steve wanted no part of radio at the time, he wanted to do something different. Hey, I can't blame the guy! As noted before, he worked his guts out for that station only to get the "love ya, big kisses, mmwha! now get the $*#@ outta here.....

Love him or hate him, he has great pipes.... :-*
