Steve Craig to New York

I am getting word that Steve Craig will be joining Leslie Fram at WRXP-FM, New York. Had I been PD of 929 Radio Atlanta today, this would not have happened.

Rodney's article in the AJC has Steve saying that he reached out to Dave FM PD Mike Wheeler and that Wheeler never even got back to him. This is the same PD who picked Zack Tyler for mornings. Great decision maker, apparently.

Assuming that's accurate, Steve will do well in New York. He knows music and its history and has an excellent ear. They must of come up with sufficient beaver pelts to be tempting.

That sounds accurate. When I BRIEFLY worked for Wheeler a while back getting a response from the man was considered a miracle. Nice to know he's still sitting in his Ivory Tower waiting for the station to crumble under him while talent slips away.

I tend to agree with you, deadman. I just read this news as official today and while I'm bummed I'm not surprised. At least I know where he's on the air. I was pondering on getting an HD radio but I'd rather listen to Sirius full time.

I need to listen! From what I have seen so far, they will do some damage up in NY!

The only thing I wish 1019 did was keep Paul Cavalconte around. Jazz paid his bills, but the guy knows rock and the market and is a great guy to work with.

This will be fun to watch!

Who knows, maybe Leslie will put in a good word for Alan Sneed to consult?

I'l take a stab at that, miked.

Maybe she has people that like her enough to keep her on the air? I'm no radio professional, I just listen and buy the products and services of the companies that buy ad time on (insert radio station here).

Then again, I could be totally off track.

Congrats to Steve.
Truly one of the goodguys.

The pd at Dave FM is not long for this market.
He has carved out a persona that has been less than
immpressive to his owners, peers, and certainly no one
in the radio community has been impressed by his
lack of common decency. Stories are mounting against
this dude.

Oh yes. Listening to (Atlanta) has-beens on a station streaming from New York is really gonna hurt 750.

Atlanta radio is dead.... www.1019rxp.com

in 2009 Wi-Fi in cars will start to become standard... Am/Fm/Xm-Sirius will be done.
Streaming radio will replace over the air listening.

I don't know about that... I can't stand to listen to streaming radio due to bandwidth issues. And that's on a fat pipe at work. I can't imagine wifi in a car will be very good quality initially.

Right now - the new Iphone you can stream AOL and CBS Radio stations live and from what I am told it works great. WiMaxx, 3G... in a few years I am sure the landscape is going to change.

What do you mean I won't last long in this market?

As for Wi-Maxx radio, Rodney Ho told me about this 5 years ago and I am still waiting. Just bring back music on WGST and WQXI.
