Steve Dahl Nowhere To be Found?!?

If you have been following the "numbers" game on the arbitron ratings, you will have noticed that Steve "dull" Dahl has never broken the top 10 in about 9 of the 10 years he has been peircing the ears of listeners at WCKBlahh-blahh.

Yet, CBS continues to sink money into that sinking ship of a station and one of the worst air-personalities radio has ever had. Don't believe me? Look at the freakin ratings! He is NOT even in the TOP 15! Smooth jazz is kicking his ass! That's gotta make ya feel good Steve.

I do have to admit that he is a genius when it comes to marketing himself. He has a killer PR group behind him and surrounds himself with really stupid people that kiss his ass (ie:wendy and company, Buzz is actually a very good side man so I will leave him out of the rant) which in turn makes him look like a smart dude. Then he busts balls about other air-personalities and how they suck but yet pull numbers that destroy his! He also stands by the positioning statement of the station "FREE fm" That guy will do anything to get Free Sh*t, he will sell his own wife for a plasma tv it seems like. He needs a new car, he starts plugging a dealership, he needs a landscaper, he throws out a plug, get the idea folks? I thought payola was illigal in radio? Hmmm

The time is gonna be short for Mr. Dahl, there are talks that a re-vamp is in the near future for the "FREE-Falling" station and it's not going to be pretty when the dust clears.

Thats all I have to say for now, but do not get me started about the other douch-bags on that station.
Stan and Terry? What the hell is that all about. CBS had to meet the "African American quota"? I am sure there are better qualified "black" personalities out there other than those two...those two..umm, whatever! Terry Armour is an entertainment writer but knows Nothing, Nothing about the goings on in the entertainment world. My 6 year old daughter knows more than he does. He's a complete fool.

All I am stating is that WCK Blah Blahh is going to be static in the near future if they do not get their Sh*t together soon!

It's beginning to be no big surprise to hear this from Windycitydeejay. Three years at "Bitch Channel" and he doesn't say how he left. BIG BIG BIG problem for him at WCKG...maybe he worked there too? I think if he did, we could figure out how he left there too.

But just from reading your posts, one question - if you know everything there is to know, why aren't you so busy consulting that you don't have time to spend on boards like this, flaming people in an incredibly classless manner?

I would think, since you know all there is to know, that you must have huge amounts of work from every radio company in America. I can't believe you have the time to spend here!
 
The thing about WindyCityDeeJay's original post that makes it so idiotic and ignorant is that he's quoting 12+ figures, and the only numbers CBS cares about with Dahl are 25-54 male. Those are the ones they sell and those are the ones Steve does well in.
 
Wooder is CORRECT. Also, the other thing that Steve brings to CBS is tremendous sales numbers. He has many loyal advertisers that love him. So just like Mike North, the ratings mean little if the $$$$$ come in. It kinda shows that WindyCityDJ doesn't really understand how radio works.

As for the total billing, Mario and Woody are as stupid as their screen-names. WCKG has lost about 35% of billing revenue since howard left in January, I can show you the billing numbers and you can't argue with fact. As for 25-54 males, he still is not in the top 10! And he is on FM! Roe Conn is breaking record numbers in 25-54 and what really pisses Dahl of now is that the last book, Mancow blew his doors off. I do not care , mancow sux too. But he beat him. That is why Dahl did not talk about the books this week.

In fact, I am in Aruba on a balcony overlooking the beach while typing this crap that you are being sucked into reading, so I am good at my job. Maybe I am wasting time, but I will tell you something; what better way of wasting time than doing it in Aruba and getting paid for it! Just one more little note to add.
I will tell you that Dahl has approached Sirius many times and has been shot down everytime! He has Nothing to contribute! It is not personal about Mr. Dahl, I am not the only person that feels this way. I will tell you this. If CKG lets him go for any reason, he will have a bitch of a time finding a station to pick him up in Chicago. He has burned many bridges and pissed of many people.

I'm not into flame wars, so this is my last post on the subject. Yes, WCKG lost at LEAST 35% of its revenue since Howard left, THAT has to do with the Rover Disaster. I even agree with you about Dahl's whiny behavior. You just can't expect one afternoon show to make up revenue for the loss of a tremendously lucrative morning show.

I am laughing my ass off watching you guys fall for this sh*t. Get outside and do something. Its just radio. Nothing more, nothing less. I have been there, done that. When it was cool! Now it just plain suxs azzzz.

Chicago radio blows and we all know it. as for me, Yup I DJ clubs and make a sh*t load of cash doing it.

This week feel free to come by Thursday to Soundbar. Say "radio" and get in free!
Friday I will be at Transit $30 cover if you can afford it.

For the record boys. I have done radio in about 15 different markets including Chicago and LA. Radio was once a great place. But now it sux and we all know it.

That is why I got out. I make $5000 per night dj'ing clubs. I do 3 clubs a week. Add it up!
And for the record I do not drive a Viper. I have a modest ride....2006 Bentley GT Continental.
