Steve Dahl's contract extended

From Dahl.com:
....You might have seen in the paper today that I have signed a 5-year extension to my WCKG contract, so that keeps The Steve Dahl Show there until 2011. You might have also seen that the show was in the top 10 for persons 13+. While that’s great, it’s not really something that any ad buys are based on, but the good news is that we are #1 in men 25 to 54 and #2 in adults 25 to 54....

BOTTOM LINE ON STEVER

As long as he's around, he will be one of the highest paid and THE MOST coveted broadcaster in Chicago.

Steve is the New York Yankees, the Cadillac, the Taj Mahal of Chicago radio. Infinity would make the biggest mistake in Chicago radio history not locking him up. No matter what station or shift they plug him into, he's guaranteed BIG REVENUE$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!

His fans are the most loyal in radio and they love BMW's, HDTV's and other expensive toys and travel destinations. They are more coveted than the hip-hop crowd, the Hurban crowd, the Eric & Kathy outlet mall crowd, the Mancow hessians and all the blue hairs that listen to WGN.

"Love him or hate him, the underdog's on top. And he's gonna shine on until his heart stops."

Time for all his detractors to eat a steamin' plate of eggs, Danny Thomas style on a glass coffee table baby!

Please don't take any offense but, I'm amazed by your interest and support for (The Stever). Ive always loved listing to Chicago's talkers over the years,Matthews,Brandy,Cow who ever. Ive tried listening to his show repeatedly and I guess I just don't get it? His show drags and sounds thesame over and over. Was he funny 20 years ago? You can actually finish his sentances with his lame humor. Same show every day sounds something like this....
(Steve) " I'm so great I'm so great"
(Wendy) "hee hee, gosh your so graet"
(Steve) " dead air, chair squeeks,"
(Buzz) " Today's headlines"...Interupted by Steve of course, w/lame humor.
(Steve) "Me,Me,Me,Me,Me"
And If something interesting does come up Steve's Comment" Yah, What ever." Rarely has anyone famous on and if he does he talks about himself and what he did 20 years ago. That's just my oppinon though. He's been around along time and makes a lot of cash, so I guess somebody gets it????

I would like chicagolandradio much better if Larz didnt feel the need to put up
a different news item every five minutes, bumping down each thread of conversation in the process. Is it a message board or a news site? Either way, I like it. Just wish they wouldnt fill it up with non-local news items. I can get that stuff on All Access and R&R Online.

I seem to think everyone that used to post here, has gone over to Crow_On.
Why is R-I/Chicago so quiet lately? Something's not right...

I agree, I heard his program a few weeks ago. And man, what a change
from the WDAI, LOOP and WLS-FM days. He should consider becoming a
funeral director.
Show was very boring. But if Infinity is willing to pay him Big Money
for nothing, that's cool. Because I know none of it's mine.

Steve Dahl has been lucky enough to have fans that will stick with him, no matter what. As long as enough of the fans who listened to him back at the Loop hang in with him, he will still be 'CKG's main franchise.

The funny thing is that he's becoming a lot like his old target Larry Lujack--Uncle Lar seemed to be getting lazier and less aggressive on the air as he got older, but until he got out of morning drive, he still had a huge audience. Perhaps the moral here may be not to criticize too much, since you're probably going to end up just like who you criticized. Something for Mancow to consider, too.
