A connection between Svengoolie and Son of Ghoul is they were both inspired by Ernie Anderson's Ghoulardi.
The Svengoolie chracter was originated by a former Cleveland DJ, Jerry G., who worked at WKYC when Ghoulardi was at his height.
Jerry G. came to Chicago for WCFL and created the Svegoolie persona based on Ghoulardi for his own weekend horror show on on WFLD-TV, a Chicago indpendent. The character was handed down to others after Jerry left for San Diego and is much the same as he created it in its current Me-TV version. So keeping Son of Ghoul on 35 wouldn't be that strange. But I doubt that will happen.

That's a shame. Due to new ownership I assume?
Yes. Weigel will have to provide their own programming now.

With Sports Talk now done on 35, and seeing that Phil mentioned several times that the station has been sold, it won't be long now until Weigel takes over the station. Perhaps in the next few days? Start of next week? To bad a date wasn't announced.

Could WNIR one day end up with new owners?
WNIR has always been the Klaus family's pride and joy, and main interest.

TV 35 was always just a side deal.

You wanna buy WNIR, then you need to really knock the Klaus' socks off with an offer, because they won't let it go cheap or easy.

That's fine. It's better than being owned by one of the media giants that would go to an automated voice tracked station with a cookie-cutter playlist.
