Steve Getty

Does anyone know anything about Steve Getty and what he's doing now? I read somewhere that he wasn't renewed at WSB-AM, and left for the automotive business, wondering if anyone else has more info.

Can't answer your question about where he is now, but I was always confused about why WSB let him go in the first place. I think Steve was the best sports reporter they had.

Do you miss radio? Have you tried getting back in?

Steve, did you try to go back to WGST when the Braves moved? I remember you originally when GST had the Braves back in the mid 90's. You and Matt Stewart made a great tag team.

Yes. Radio's an incredible medium, thoroughly enjoy it. I actually bumped into Matt at a Kroger the other day. Reminisced a bit about those days. I agree, we were a great tag team in the early 90's. Those 3 years (92-93-94) were some of the most rewarding days of my career.

Although I think the Braves broadcasts sound great on FM, I think the pregame show leaves a lot to be desired. Nothing personal, but Stu and Mark just do not have the chemstry. I would have preferred Edgar Tregits(?), after you, of course.

Steve;

I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Your professional approach to sports and sports talk made the pre and post shows most informative and enjoyable. I talk with Matt every once in a while and can't help but remember what a great "tag team" you guys were. The guys doing that now don't measure up to the standard you, Matt, Steve Holman and Brad Nessler had at WGST over the years.

So Pete Davis has a job in radio but Steve Getty doesn't. Kinda sums up everything that's wrong with the business, don't you think?

Steve, I grew up in Atlanta and have always thought you did an excellent job. It's a fun business, but it has changed. Hell, I'm only in it on a part time basis now.

Hope to hear you back on the air someday soon.
