Steve Gill and WWTN contract talks break down

Nashville city paper is reporting that Steve Gill and WTN contract negotiations break down Popular talk radio show host Steve Gill and Supertalk WTN 99.7 FM will part ways after this week unless something “dramatic” happens during contract negotiations with the station, according to Gill.

I heard this as soon as I got to the office this morning. Could he go back to WLAC? Maybe that's the "wind" the previous topic poster references. Of course, nothing's happened officially since he is still under contract. At any rate, if WTN doesn't go local in mornings, they'll be virtually irrelevant as a primary news/talker in town since they'll no longer have any truly local shows now that Phil is syndicated.

I hope Steve lands on his feet-not so much for his own benefit but for Scottie's. She has worked so hard to be where she is and I understand she does a great job, even though it's been said she can be difficult. Hmmm-If she were a man she'd be "demanding and brilliant" but because she's a woman, many have called her a "bitch". Godspeed Scottie. It will be interesting to see what develops in the next couple of days.

I don't think that Steve's and Scottie's future employment are necessarily intertwined. I've worked at plenty of places that kept a producer in place when a host left.

I'm sure both of them will come out of this just fine.

Not sure where you'd hear "demanding and brilliant", because in the radio circles where I've been, rather than describe a man as "difficult", he'd be called the other "b" word.

I for one would be glad to see Steve leave the market all together. I think he is the most over rated host in this market. He thinks so highly of himself and his failed run for congress that I can't even listen to his show.
