Steve Harper to WEZN?

From FYBUSH.com

....And out on Long Island, some changes are coming at WBLI (106.1 Patchogue). NERW hears that morning man Steve Harper is being moved across Long Island Sound to Cox sister station "Star 99.9" WEZN-FM in Bridgeport, CONNECTICUT, where he replaces Tony Terzi (who himself replaced another Harper, longtime wakeup guy John Harper) - and we're hearing that bigger changes may be on the way at WBLI. Stay tuned...

I saw that...I guess he is aging out of the demos for CHR or something. I hope he doesn't have to take the PJ ferry every day (don't think it runs early enough)!!

AllAccess.com just confirmed that he is leaving. Shame to see him go.

By reading today's Newsday, it doesn't sound like he's going across the Sound after all:

HARPER LEAVES WBLI. Morning show host Steve Harper signed off from WBLI/106.1 FM for the last time Wednesday after 25 years, reports Newsday's Rafer Guzmán. Yesterday, the Mineola-born Harper described his departure as amicable, though he cited creative differences over the "direction" of his show. Harper began his career at WBLI as an evening DJ on Nov. 7, 1980; his tenure there is unusual in an era when radio hosts jump from station to station. Harper said he hopes to reappear on another local station soon. "People know me on Long Island," he said. "This is my place."

Fybush is sticking with his story, saying that Harper was in CT late last week talking with WEZN staffers.

From NERW:

*Out on Long Island, our exclusive story last week about Steve Harper's impending departure from WBLI (106.1 Patchogue) apparently created a stir at the station, where the news became public a few days later. After 25 years at WBLI, Harper did his last morning show there on Wednesday (Jonny Weitz and Al Levine are covering mornings until a permanent replacement is named), and while Harper is telling Newsday that he hopes to stay on the island, NERW hears that he was up at Cox sister station WEZN (Star 99.9) in CONNECTICUT late last week, meeting the staff and getting ready for his new morning gig on the other side of Long Island Sound.
