FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW HITS MILESTONE OF 50 RADIO STATIONS WITH CHICAGO’S WGCI-FM

LOS ANGELES, July 19, 2007 – Debuting Wednesday, Aug. 1, Premiere Radio Networks’ The Steve Harvey Morning Show will join Clear Channel’s WGCI-FM lineup in the 5-9 a.m. CST weekday morning slot. Steve Harvey has sky-rocketed in radio syndication since his debut with the network in October 2005. Marking the 50th radio station with Chicago’s WGCI-FM is a particularly significant milestone for Harvey because it’s where he first started in radio in 1996.

Kris Kelley, WGCI-FM Program Director stated, “Steve Harvey is a world-class entertainer and we are tremendously excited to add him to WGCI’s on-air lineup.”
In addition, The Steve Harvey Morning Show is the number one rated morning show in the top 50 metro markets with Persons 12+, 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 and Women 25-54. (Source: Arbitron Winter ‘07, Top 50 Metro Markets.)
The Steve Harvey Morning Show is nationally syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks on 50 stations in markets such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The show combines heart, humor, music and celebrities from the world of sports and entertainment. Harvey is joined on the show by Shirley Strawberry, Carla Ferrell and his “Nephew Tommy.”

WGCI-FM is Chicago’s number one radio station with the highest share of all radio listeners, ages 12 and older. It continues to achieve top ratings among multiple adult, male and female demographic groups. WGCI-FM reaches almost one million total radio listeners weekly. I can't think he will be around in Chicago very long. He spent the morning insulting Chicago's Art work by saying the money spent on the Picasso at Daley Plaza should have been money spent on schools. Huh? What? He had no idea that the Picasso statue has been here since the late 60's. He didn't even know what it was called. He just knew he hated it.

I also heard he's not making any friends at the cc offices in Chicago . I heard (but can't confirm) he has a body guard block the bathroom door so no one else can enter. I guess he thinks he's important. He's pulling a DIVA act. He also has a breakfast buffet catered to him. The other employees were told they were not allowed to eat from the buffet. The staff discards the leftovers rather than share it with employees. I guess wasting food is OK, but Chicago artwork is NOT.

First of all, Mr. Harvey has the right to his opinion. If you know anything about Steve Harvey, you know that he isn't fake and he keeps it real. If he doesn't like the Picasso statue, he doesn't like it. That doesn't mean he is going to be booted off of the air in Chicago. I am sure there are plenty of Chicagoans (including myself) that don't care for it. Also, Mr. Harvey commenting that the money would have been better spent on schools was not necessarily a bad thing either. Haven't the public schools ALWAYS needed money, EVEN IN THE LATE 60'S?
It would have been different if he said something like, he didn't like Chicago or Chicagoans. That would have been more of a case that he wouldn't last long. But you have to remember, when Mr. Harvey was on WGCI back in 1996, he did VERY WELL. The only reason why he didn't stay was because the Steve Harvey show was starting that year and also he was hosting Showtime at the Apollo. So doing a morning show was taking an additional toll on him, so he wanted to take a break for a little while. At the time WGCI management (i.e, Elroy Smith and Marv Dyson) would not honor his wishes and just got rid of him altogether.
Also, where are you getting this information that Steve Harvey is having guards block the bathroom door at the Clear Channel offices in Chicago and he doesn't let others eat from his breakfast buffet? First off, Steve Harvey broadcasts his show from WBLS in New York, NOT CHICAGO!!! He only did his show from Chicago recently for about three days.
Let's just say, he does have a guard block the door when he was in the bathroom. Do you realize what some people do to major celebrities when they are in vulnerable positions? Someone could be out to hurt Mr. Harvey and he can't take any chances. BUT the guard and the breakfast thing probably aren't even true because you even said that you can't confirm it.

This is all true stemming from a time when he was confronted in a public bathroom. Don't hate unless you know the full story, all. But come on, this "diva" still flies commercial and he has the money to do otherwise. And you know how morning radio is... if you can afford Eggs Benedict in the morning for your staff rather than buy a snickers out of the vending machine, why not?
