Steve Harvey on a "Hit Music Station"?

Steve is officially replaces Big Boy's Neighborhood in Huntsville, AL on HOT 103.5. The station position itself as "Huntsville's Hottest Hits."

^^^^ I doubt it. It has been eating into WEUP ratings since its inception. If anything they are just trying to add WHRP as an additional target.

Agrees. Pincess Ivori is also holding down middays. Love Her!

Looks like an urban/rhythmic station to me, so Steve Harvey being on this station isn't too far off the map, though most stations that do play him are urban ACs.

Adding WHRP as an additional target could very well be their motivation behind the move, but it's been my experience that stations that play at Urban a/c in the morning and urban mainstream the rest of the time don't have much success at it. Hopefully Hot 103.5 will be different. They have eaten at WEUPs ratings but never beat them. They brand themselves as "Huntsville's Hottest Hits," and yes they may throw in a rhythmic song from time to time but they are VERY urban heavy. I've heard rumors before that they concidered (and maybe still are) a format flip to CHR/Top 40 but you know how rumors go. Huntsville is lacking a true CHR/Top 40 in the market (WZYP is NOT one. They are mostly Hot A/C) and any format flip by any struggling station in Huntsville to CHR/Top 40 would be an easy decision and a good business more.

Usually, that's when the morning show is syndicated. However, when you have a 18-49-oriented local morning show and more mainstream urban formatted song rotation on other dayparts then it usually does well.

...plus Rickey Simley is on WEUP and Joyner is on WHRP. Only choices were Harvey and Russ Parr.

True, there isn't much other choice. Since Russ Parr has been tried before by WEUP, (but wasn't too successful) Steve Harvey may have better luck on Hot since it'll be the first time its been in Huntsville. I remember when Russ Parr was up against Doug Banks in the morning on what was then "Power 93.3" (Urban A/C, WHRP now which moved to 94.1). I don't remember Russ ever beating Doug though. Adding Rickey Smiley was a smart move for WEUP. Their local show they had was terribly boring but Rickey has been a big success. He's a good fit for the Huntsville urban market.

Mix shows are usually pretty good from what I've heard but I've only been able to catch the Traffic Jam mix at 5 with D.J. Creativity. They mix on Friday nights too which I've been told he does those as well but I've never been able to listen to it.

What is Steve Harvey doing on a Top 40 station. Urban AC I can understand, Mainstream Urban maybe. I wonder if the station plays it's own music or Steve Harvey's musical selection?

Hot 103.5 is actually an urban-leaning CHR/Rhythmic.

I would assume they would play his music and probally the station music in a mix during the mornings.

I should listen to it then. Probably better than the airing of the show on KJLH.

Thats because its not live on KJLH its tape delayed. Its his only westcoast affilate. When he was on KDAY it was live for a brief minute. The show is now broadcasting from Atlanta GA where he lives

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA #EPIC FAIL i've seen it all !! Guess Hot will be going the way of Hot 96-5 Little Rock soon. Who's the brilliant programmer that dis this move I guess I'll look em up on AllAccess because this is hillarious an Urban AC morning show on a Rhythmic these programmers are STUPID CLUELESS reminds me of the movie.

The industry is a disgrace, down hill, lost, nothing surprises me any longer. Congrats WEUP yall held you're ground!

I beleive the station plays some of their songs on top of the Shows songs. I know some syndicated shows have spots for that. in a set of 4 songs 2 may be from the show and 2 be station choice same as the stopsets.

Have you even listened to Steve harvey all the way through the morning? Alot of quiet dead air waiting for "response" from the supporting crew, lackluster "old-head" humor, it is NOT a fast-paced, hip hop or even pop-relatable morning show for any 12+ or 18-34 demo period. It does not belong on a station like this.
