Steve Harvey on KDAY/KDAI Los Angeles Press Release

Press Release One of the Original Kings of Comedy, Steve Harvey is back …On-air in LA Morning Radioat the two newly engineered syncrocast signals93.5 KDAY / 93.5 KDAI LOS ANGELES, May 17, 2006 – 93.5/KDAY/ 93.5 KDAI announced they will bring “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” back to Los Angeles every weekday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., debuting on May 30. In October of last year, Premiere Radio Networks launched the show into national syndication. Today, it has already grown to 25 markets including New York, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia. 93.5 KDAY/ 93.5 KDAI are now part of a new privately held broadcast entity called Magic Broadcasting/Styles Partners lead by CEO Don McCoy. The new partners include LA radio veteran and previous KIIS-FM GM and Clear Channel Market Manager, Roy Laughlin. Laughlin commented, “This 70% signal improvement for the newly syncrocast 93.5 KDAY and 93.5 KDAI has been in the works for over a year but was only completed a week ago. The signal improvements are dramatic and exponentially improve this radio signal in the #1 radio market in the world. The substantial investment by the new ownership group in the signals was a key part in attracting a veteran programmer in Steve Hegwood and the Superstar On-Air talent Steve Harvey to the station for mornings.” When Harvey was last on in L.A., during the Spring ‘05 Arbitron survey, “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” ranked 5th with Persons 18-49 among English language stations in the #1 radio market and 2nd among English language stations with women 18-49 attached. Harvey’s reasons for a sudden announcement to exit at his own choice from L.A. radio in late May ‘05 are now apparent with his highly successful national morning show game plan firmly in place (Arbitron LA Spring ’05 ratings as well as the NY Arbitron Winter ’06 rating highlights attached*). Note: Howard Stern was ranked #1 among English language stations in that same Spring ’05 Arbitron survey among Persons 18-49 and exited LA radio in December ’05 for satellite radio.KDAY’s new VP of Programming, Steve Hegwood’s accomplishments are well documented in LA. Hegwood plans to embrace the “listener empowerment movement” that is best manifested in the success of several pieces of media in today’s market. Page 2The Jack FM format was one of the first to tap into this listener driven “my media” trend among Anglos. 93.5 KDAY/ 93.5 KDAI seek to tap into this same listener empowerment/high variety trend that was part of driving the JACK format among Anglos. KDAY is similarly focused on the “my media” trend, but among the African American and English dominant Hispanic market in So Cal with the campaign “Classic Hip Hop Today and Back in the Day is only on KDAY.” Market research points to the fact that English dominant Hispanics 18-49 prefer Hip Hop Hits from multiple eras as their #1 music genre choice as do African Americans 18-49.KDAY’s audience composition over the last year has been: 44% Hispanic, 26% African American and 30% other. Every station in LA that has big Hispanic appeal (i.e. Hip Hop) will likely have the Hispanic audience composition be the largest on the station due to the sheer total size of the Latin population in Los Angeles. This Fall KDAY’s audience composition is expected to deliver 40% Hispanic, 38% African American and 22% “Other/ Mixed Origin”. Los Angeles is the country’s largest Hispanic market and 5th largest African American market. Most find it interesting that LA has more total Latino residents than the much larger city of New York and has more African American residents in total than Detroit and Philadelphia (attached). The projected Arbitron results for the Fall 2006 Arbitron release are a conservative 1.5 share 12+ full week for the newly simulcast and syncrocast 93.5 KDAY/KDAI. Achieving a 1.5 share 12+ would translate to .3 AQH full week rating point among persons 25-54. These ratings and advertising price structure will create a high value advertising opportunity for advertisers looking to increase their presence with the high disposable income Southern California market among persons 25-54 & 18-49 and 18-34. It is anticipated that the cume and TSL will swell beyond the current 300,000 weekly audience on KDAY this Summer and Fall as the million dollar plus programming and marketing commitments to the station re-launch roll out. We believe this makes for one of the best returns on advertising investments this Summer and Fall in all of LA radio. (Note: See attached Harvey ratings in his last Arbitron survey less than one year ago in LA). The station Cume and TSL is expected to swell due to both the syncrocast signal enhancements at 93.5 and the programming and marketing enhancements including a $500,000+ outdoor, direct mail, online, on site and on air campaign this Summer/Fall reintroducing Steve Harvey to the #1 radio market.ABOUT STEVE HARVEYHarvey hit the 2004 silver screens with two movie releases. Screen Gems box office smash “You Got Served” and Fox Search Light’s “Johnson’s Family Vacation” re-uniting Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer. After completing a second season of the WB’s “Steve Harvey’s Big Time Challenge” his latest blockbuster animated live action family film “Racing Stripes” with Warner Brother/Alcon Entertainment hit theatres this past January and featured the voices of Dustin Hoffman, Whoopi Goldberg and David Spade. And, if film and TV aren’t enough, Steve Harvey stirred the helms of his popular daily morning drive radio show in Los Angeles, Calif., and Dallas, Texas. “The Steve Harvey Morning Show,” was on the air five years and throughout its tenure he boasted the ratings with loyal listeners. Some of his guests included chart topping artists, award winning celebrities, and American Idols. Today, his radio show is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks and airs in 25 markets. He continues his unending pursuit and commitment to further opportunities in local schools with generous contributions from the Steve and Mary L. Harvey Foundation. Mr. Harvey is currently a spokesperson for Ford and Tracfone.# # #
