Steve Harvey's no. 1

I’m guessing with those high “urban” numbers, Charlotte is still not being ARB sampled by PPMs. Those numbers will change and finally become a more accurate picture of what the overall Charlotte population is actually listening to when PPM’s are used.

For Charlotte's V-101.9, they have enjoyed a big ratings jump in the morning with the Steve Harvey morning show. Their ratings have increased 17% in one quarter, and during this survey, he led by two points over John Boy and Billy. WPEG, however, is no. 1 overall.

The article is in today's Charlotte Observer, by Mark Washburn. Read and discuss:

At least he's doing well somewhere; haven't heard much about him since his former G'boro affiliate WMKS (remember that station? It used to be WFMX before CC killed it) dumped its R&B format for Top 40. Now they simulcast the Showgram from Raleigh's G105...

As for JB&B, where are they still on the air? Ever since their Triangle (WRDU 106.1 The Rooster--- now 106.1 RDU Country) and Triad (WVBZ 100.3 The Buzzard--- now 100.3 The Buzz) affiliates both dumped them, I haven't heard anything about them either...

From Washburn:
WFNZ-AM (Sports, 610, 1660) 1.1%
-52% Worst quarter in a year, morning show off 67%.

I knew it was bad...wow, didn't think it was THAT bad

You can find Steve Harvey Morning Show in most cities that has an Urban or Urban AC station. He's also on the NY Times best seller list for his book. Forgot about his new role on Good Morning America. I'd say he's doing very well!

Yes and nobody will like PPM and many will complain when the numbers come out differently.

Wow looking at the article there was nothing about WLNK could it be that Bob's long ride is coming to an end? Also there was no mention of WKQC. I wonder if that means changes will be coming? Maybe they will sit tight till PPM hits the market.

I caught K104 on a skip a month or so ago. It's decent musically, but the imaging is awful IMO. Has it always sounded that way?

Pretty much although I haven't heard it lately. Not much changes over there. My vote it for less inaging and more jock content. I don't expect to win on that count though.

That's too bad....if they got some new jingles and better imaging, it would really sound good.

I found it interesting that WSPA in Greenville (AC) showed up in the Charlotte book. Guess they are doing something that WLYT or WKQC aren't.

WSPA comes in really well in parts of Charlotte.
