This was a very sad day for a bunch of people like UD grads (and former WVUD alumni) who went to school with him, the people up in Sidney who grew up with him, those who worked with him in Columbus at Q-FM 96, as well as the folks who knew him well at both WTUE and K-99.1.
What I can say about Steve is that he was an absolute pro...creative, witty...could have you on the floor laughing in about 15 seconds. Off the air, though, he was kinda shy (as a lot of radio people seem to be), but had the ability to turn that off in the blink of an eye.
He fought a very valiant battle against his myeloma. I know if anyone could have beaten it, he would have.
He's truly deserving of his induction into the Dayton Broadcaster's Hall of Fame this October. I'm happy that Steve was around long enough to get the word that would be inducted, though I know a lot of us are sad that the induction now has to be posthumous.
My thoughts and prayers go to his family and close friends, to all in the radio community including Chris Geisen, Nancy Wilson and all who had the pleasure of working with him. Steve will be missed.
