Steve Martorano out at WIP, Missanelli Back in

From Philly.com: Link.

Martorano is a very good news-talk guy, but as stated many times on here, he's just totally uninformed about sports. Meanwhile, Missanelli is good, but I would have liked them to give John Marzano a shot. Former player, seemed very comfortable when he filled in a couple times last week, and would give WIP someone with a baseball background which they despartely need.
______________

I agree about Martorano, but what I would have done is put Macnow back on the 10-3 shift with Marzanno and moved Missanelli and Gargano on at 3 pm.
Dump Eskin.
Eskin rehashes the same old topics over and over and over again!
At least with Macnow, who is very underrated and Missanelli they are ALWAYS brining up new topics to discuss.
IMO Eskin is the most overrated guy on that station.

I've always liked Martorano's presentation from first hearing him on WIPeople Talk, so on that front, I think it's a shame, but sports just didn't seem to be the right fit.

I'd love to hear him do general interest talk, but since he always struck me as someone capable of smacking all sides of the political spectrum around--i.e., of being balanced--I'm sure he's far too much of a left-wing extremist for the little minded so-called big talker. And besides, why would Philadelphia need someone local when we can have 9 uninterrupted hours of national talk with no connection to our region? I know, Steve already had a run on 1210, before they cut back to nearly all syndicated stuff, but it's not like they've never brought back someone before. While I think 9-noon would be perfect, I'm sure Beck isn't going anywhere in my lifetime.

Or now that you brought that up, why not hire Jody MacDonald bring back Mac & Mac middays? The last I heard he's been doing shows for Sirius, so maybe that's why he wasn't considered. But you'd think he would have been a logical choice for the slot, considering he did some work with WIP in just the past couple of months on weekends.
______________

Not where it counts. He delivers numbers.

This is a great move. Mike is an incredibly talented sports host.

So why does Gargano get a pass - He's burned thru more partners than Paris Hilton!
Don't get me wrong, I like 'Ant', but he seems better suited to a night shift, where he could talk after a Sixers game, and finally be on air and awake!
Listening to a guy complain about how hard it is to get up to start work at 10:00AM is sometimes tough to take...
I agree with bringing Macnow back to middays, he is never boring...
