STEVE RIVERS ?

Anyone remember a PD at Q105 named Steve Rivers? Someone said he was very sick and in Tampa. Anybody heard anything about this?

Steve Rivers was Program Director of Q105 after Scott Shannon left to go to Z100 in New York. Mason Dixon become OM. I don't remember the exact dates but he was PD for a little over a year and then Steve moved on to KMEL in San Francisco. Randy Kabrich replaced Steve. During my nearly 4 years there, we had 3 PDs (Mason, Steve, Randy), but still managed to dominate Tampa Bay and the country.

Steve had several strokes over the past year and he is in Tampa recuperating.

There is a guest book set up at Caring Bridge for people to sign. Here's the link: : http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/steverivers

Even if you didn't know Steve, please take a minute and wish him well. He needs all of our support. There is a note on the web site that says his daughter is printing out the guest book and reading it to me.

Steve is a great radio mind and I learned a lot from him and from Scott, Mason, Randy, Michael Osterhout, Marc Kaye, Dan Carelli, Bobby Rich, Mike Reeves and others during my time there. I was a 20something sponge and tried to learn everything I could before I left to program WVIC in Lansing. Q105 was a great place to work and a lot of great people were there including many who were recently let go (Jo Jo Walker, Bill Connelly). Other greats who were at Q105 during that time included Cleveland Wheeler, Pat McKay, Roger Schulman and Hollywood Hamilton.

There will never be another station like Q105...

Hit the post button too quickly.

Luis Albertini was also at Q105 and helped us become one of the largest billers in the nation. I believe Luis is now with Genesis in Tampa. I used to thank Luis weekly for my paycheck!
