STEVE VALENTINE GONE FROM B101?

He's off the weekender part of the website. The new guy Mark Ambrose is there so apparently he replaced Valentine. I think Valentine had been there since the station signed on. I'd ask if anyone knows for sure but removal from the website apparently tells it all.

Mark Ambrose is far from a new guy on B101. Mark was a part-timer when the station signed on and was there for at least 8 or 9 years.

I know that but I was asking about Valentine. Focus!

Hi...

After about 17 or 18 years at B101, I decided I wanted my weekends off, as well as more time to focus on my full-time job and other things in life. The folks at Clear Channel Providence treated me well, and I had a most enjoyable time at B101 through all the owners, the program directors, the general managers, etc.

I consider myself retired from my radio career. Thanks for all the kind words on this board.

Steve Valentine

P.S. I started at B101 a few months after it went on the air...so I'm not a member of the original staff, but not that far away.

Steve was a great guy to work with, and both I and B101 will miss his professionalism. We worked together for almost 9 years, there. I first met him in July 1990, when I got hired to work weekends. As was the case with me, after 21 years, I needed a break (for awhile). I'm sure that Steve reserves the right for a possible comeback, at some point in the future. If and when it happens, we could only be so lucky to have him rejoin us.

Yes, the Reverend Doctor, my nom de plume when I was at WATD in Marshfield, is retired as well. In fact, he retired many years ago.

BTW, thanks for the nice words Mark Ambrose! Congrats on your return!

Steve

Do you think that this station will ever hire again? When do you think Providence will hire some people. I know that I needed it to get started. There are alot of kids out there looking to some part time work. Give them a chance. That's how I started!!! Why dont you help them!!!!

Read the headlines-hiring freeze for 1st quarter from Clear Channel, there really aren't any spots over at Citadel as they are comfortable tracking nites at Pro. If you are a full timer as you say, go question your PD directly....

Hey Steve,

Sorry to hear that you decided to leave, but I can understand. It was a pleasure working with you and getting to know you in the time I was at B101. Shoot me an e-mail when you get a chance.

By the way, what will the ultimate fate of the duct-taped headphones be? Will you bury them in your backyard? :D
