Steve West Gone From 91X?

Steve West's name and Resurrection Sunday show is gone from the 91x.com website.

Also, there's no midday jock at Magic 92.5's website either.

Not-so-Finest City Broadcasting is making so many cuts that it would be a matter
of time before the only live shifts are the morning jocks and everything else
is jockless or voicetracked.

91-suX!

There goes the 'hood.

The great Sherry Knight is also gone from FCB and Magic. Both Sherry and Steve are amazing people, and I hope that both find jobs soon. If anyone deserves jobs in this business it is them! I know that that was probably one of the hardest things Rick Thomas ever had to do was let Sherry go. Rick is one of the few managers in the business that cares about radio, but more importantly the people in it! Unfortunately for Rick and Magic with the loss of Sherry it means that the ratings will begin to fall for the great Magic.

For Steve West he and JM are two of the great heritage jocks of rock in this town. I do believe that radio's funeral march can now begin. There are almost no broadcasters left in radio! On the air in Sd you only have a couple of true broadcasters left... Gene Knight, Sam Bass, Sonny West, Cookie Randolph, and Dave Rikards. When they are gone turn off the transmitters and turn in the licenses radio is done!

That was not a very bright move to get rid of steve west and resurrection sundays. Now we can listen to new wave nation on 94.9 to be resurrectd

Sad to see :'(

I had the pleasure of being a 91-X and Mighty 690 intern back in the
80's when the studio's were still in TJ. Some worked the phones, others
ran carts across the border. It was great fun!

Steve was a class act. I enjoyed listening Sunday mornings here in OKC.
I would hope that one might consider his "Radio Nigel" internet stream
for a HD-2 station, but he probably has more listeners on the WWW than
there are HD Radio's in San Diego.

Steve - if you see this you have our respect and hope to hear you on
the air soon!

Yep, as in the case of Jim McInnes' departure from KGB, cue up Tom Petty's "The Last DJ"
Very sad to see these veterans go, in most cases being replaced by soulless machines (automation and voicetracking). And still the radio execs don't get it why their industry is tanking. Maybe they'll be the next in line to plead for a government bailout.

My Christmas wish would be have Bob Bolinger start his own damn radio station and staff it with true broadcast professionals...oh well, I can dream, can't I?

Long time lurker.....first time poster....

Steve is a great guy, I had the pleasure of working with him the past few years and it broke my heart when he was let go. BUT, the man who is now doing midday's, Mookie, is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and he truly did work his ass off the past 5 years trying to get a day shift. He got it, he deserved it, and he's doing a great job. Yes, everyone was used to Steve, and they loved Steve, but he was not replaced by a "soulless machine." He was replaced by a young, smart, and talented man.

This is how life is.

People grow old, people move on, times change, new people come in, people get used to them, 10 years down the line that person gets replaced and the cycle rinse's and repeats. It sucks but thats just how it is.

With all that being said.....Steve West is THE man.

Wasn't Steve at 91X for over 20 years ???

New management comes in, fires heritage talent, ratings drop, wonders what went wrong, format changes and the cycle rinse's and repeats.  ;D
