Steven Strick RESIGNS WBCN

M

Guest
R&R has hired Steven Strick — a 20-year veteran of Infinity Alternative WBCN/Boston — as Alternative Editor. Strick is currently Asst. PD/MD of WBCN, and his last day at the station is set for late September. His first day at R&R is Oct. 3, and he'll be based in the company's Los Angeles headquarters. A good man I hope he does well there!

Another huge loss for BCN. They really need to do something over there, the station is sounding more stale by the day. The new imaging voice they are mixing in with John Reiley's does not fit the format at all. My only hope is that BCN will come through with a LOCAL morning show when Howard leaves. I think another syndicated show or another Jock from Las Vegas will signal the end of a once great station.

Just my two cents..

90-110 grand a year to live and party in LA, talk to programmers and bands and management companies, attend every concert festival in the country on the company dime, increase the cd collection more than it already is, and then write a once a week column about whatever you want in the industry - and not have to deal with ratings issues, Selector, the idiotic opinions of corporate managers with no programming experience and boston tunnel traffic anymore.....

....priceless.

good luck Steve.

Or every part-time weekend overnight jock who thinks he knows more about programming than you do.

iirc, Steven has been with BCN since '77 (when he arrived there from Grahm Jr College as an intern, hired after graduation and stuck around with an albeit brief break-in-service in the late 80's/early 90's(?))

congrats, Mr.Strick! may this new adventure be more prosperous, and if it's fun, at least as long as your last.

Steven has integrity - it is too bad he was never given the opportunity to be a beacon at WBCN. Resigning is smart - go out with your head held high, instead of leaving in disgrace like a former employee who overstayed his welcome - and who held Steven back from making the station what it could be.

That is of course completely inaccurate. The former employee that you speak of did not hold Steven back if that were true Steven would be program director now and not someone else. This is a good move for him because he will be in contact with virtually every alternative programmer around,

Best of luck to him in his new venture!.

WHAT, SAYING STEVEN HAS INTEGRITY? HE DOES.

The former

STEVEN IS co-PD, is he not? If he wasn't held back he would've had
the P.D. position. Find out who let him go in the first place, then brought him back after he did a great job at FNX.

Give us the facts, not what you want the facts to be. Thank you.

Facts are he was Assistant PD which usually equals music director. There is not such a thing as CO PD. He left becuase he was not promoted to PD so good for him in his new position.

Co PD? there isnt such a thing plus I imagine if he were he would not be leaving would he??. I wished him good luck in my post and do again.
