Steven Tyler-National Anthem

Next to Roseanne Barr, this is the worst rendition of the National Anthem I have ever heard sung by a (so called) singer during a playoff game.

And this guy judges others on American Idol? ::)

you should have seen the look on Baltimore QB Joe Flacco's face as this was going on.
Priceless!

Later in the day, Kristen Chenoweth nailed all the "notes" but was stylistically off-base.

I don't know how many hits Aerosmith had with Tyler as the front man but nobody who ever heard that group should have been surprised at his performance.

It did however give RnR haters another reason to hate RnR.

They had him sing it at the Indianapolis 500 probably in 2000. He replaced "Home of the Brave" with "Home of the Indianapolis 500," for which the Speedway told him to apologize publicly.

So, this is probably the last time he sings the SSB -- unless they're short of content on an American Idol results show some day soon ::)

Whatever happened to just having a marching band play out the anthem?
Simple, sweet and without glory note whoring.

Steven Tyler never even came close to the latter.

... and when they showed Giants players on the Jumbotron during her rendition of the National Anthem, you could hear boos from 49ers fans... during the Star-Spangled Banner!

On the other hand I once heard the group Foreigner do an absolutely
beautiful a capella version of The Star Spangled Banner before a Pittsburgh Pirates
game. And most of them are Brits!

I haven't heard Steven Tyler's version and don't doubt that it was bad, but to me there are certain college football games that have their "tradional" person (some music professor usually?) to do it that an operatic style that sounds horrible. But then I'm no opera fan.  ::)

For a period of time Macy's and other chain's so called chic advertising seemed to feature models that were so skanky they looked like heroin addicts found in an alley, I was immediately reminded of such when Steven Tyler sang the National Anthem. American taste continues its decline from the toilet to the cesspoole.

I don't know how old you posters are, and I don't mean any disrespect, but Steven Tyler has been singing like that for over 40 years. ::)

Then, in fact, Tyler has been screaming like a fool for over 40 years. He is rock music's answer to Phyllis Diller. I am sure he is talented, but his idiotic, speaker-cracking warbling is not music. It is a novelty act that has made him a lot of money, and made him the supreme fool of rockers. BTW, I love good rock of all varieties, including Aerosmith. But when I look at or hear him, my stomach rolls. The only step lower American Idol can now step is Andrew Dice Clay.

It's sad, many of these once reasonably talented performers don't know when its time to retire gracefully and go out on top before they not only jump the shark but drown in the undertow....they seem to have no idea how ridiculous they have become.
