Word on the street is Doug Well-DONE (Welldon) has been relieved of his duties at Nassau (Upper Valley/Lebanon market.)

Also, Oldies 104.3 WWOD Morning Host Shep Sutton has be given his walking papers as well.

I understand we are in tough economic times, and it SUCKS to be fired, and I don't wish it on anyone....but I can honestly say that I am doing the Dumb and Dumber "Point and laugh REALLY hard" at Doug Welldon right now. Could not have happened to a bigger dou***bag.

Shep, on the other hand, I am sorry to see go. He's one of the good ones....talented, funny, and the best Rodney Dangerfield impression you've ever heard. If someone is smart in Coastal Mass. you'll pick him up. He lives in Boxford.

At least he waited until his 41st post to trash people, unlike most of the other losers who sign up after all these years just to rip somebody when they're down.
 
Just when you thought there wasn't much more to cut in the UV, Nassau drops another bomb. Quite a different scene from five years ago when Nassau came to town with wads of cash and hopes that they would invest a little more in the stations that the previous ownership group! They paid too much for the stations, and they're now suffering while Jeff S. @ co. are probably set for life. Say what you want about how they run their stations but I don't doubt they're in the black.

I highly doubt either Doug or Shep will be replaced. Sounds to me like Ken Webbley is holding down the mornings for now, and I doubt this will change. Too bad for Shep, he seems like a nice guy, and was at WWOD for a long time. He is also the last link to the Vox days, aside from afternoons with Vox hire LEon Strong-Erickson who has been tracking out-of-market for a long time.

Given the events of the last couple of weeks, I'd hate to be in the Vermont and Maine buildings, I wonder if GoldmanSachsNassau will cut there next...
 
anybody want me to get the 94.5 frequency in northern VT for that auction. I would love to just rock it on the Dial

I was dismissed a long time ago with the cutbacks... :-\ I miss driving 350 miles or so NYC border of Ct on I-95 to Derby Vt for a radio gig Every weekend. I would ski at Jay after the morning work was done. I was always early on time for it too on no sleep. I thought of it as getting experience. unfortunately Radio has been nothing but cutbacks.

It is a rare day that I would go after anyone's bread and butter. Not saying that I wouldn't go for it eventually if a situation or circumstance did not cease after ample warning in their own terms and using their own means, because I once did just that many years ago. I didn't have anything cute to say about it, but simply felt a sense of great relief that a nightmare of a certain number of years was over. Someone getting let go in economic hardship is no laughing matter, whether or not you liked the personality. It would seem to me that you do not know or understand whereof you speak.

Like I said, it takes a dreadful lot before I would contemplate going after anyone's means of support, and it is certainly nothing to be cavalier about.
