Desperate are we?
“Ed Stolz says alleged “sexual predator” Les Moonves at CBS is grounds for scrutinizing the CBS Radio merger with Entercom. How so? Stolz says the case of Moonves, who was fired as CEO of CBS Corporation two-and-a-half months ago, raises questions about whether CBS should’ve been allowed to own stations. Sound far-fetched? Stolz’ real target isn’t Moonves, but Entercom, to which he agreed to sell then-KWOD Sacramento all the way back in 1996. Stolz has spent the intervening 22 years fighting that deal, which wasn’t consummated until years after it was signed. After losing repeatedly at the FCC and in the federal courts (including a recent turndown by the Supreme Court), Stolz’ new move at the Commission is a “Petition for Further Reconsideration.” He’s contesting the renewal of the Entercom licenses in Sacramento – including his former 106.5, now CHR “End” KUDL. Stolz wants those licenses designated for hearing, to see if Entercom has the character qualifications to own stations.”
