On the heels of filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Ohio radio station owner Stop 26-Riverbend is hoping to refinance its debts and continue in business.
The company, which owns five radio stations in Ohio, including WVKO-AM (1580) and WVKO-FM (103.1), filed for bankruptcy protection from creditors in July.
Recent speculation in industry publications, including Radio & Records, suggested that a sale of the stations was the most likely course of action.
"Nothing could be further from the truth," said Percy Squire, one of the company’s owners. "The whole purpose of filing Chapter 11 is to give us some breathing space. We have 120 days to present a plan for reorganization.
"We have until Dec. 1 to either refinance or sell. I’m very confident we will refinance."
