How many "MARCH MADNESS" commercials have you seen (or heard) during the past 3 weeks?

Talk about an overworked cliche! Just about every television station is loaded with 'em! Horrible spots using this term include almost everybody from car dealers to health food fanatics?

And what's even worse are some of the spokespeople...who clearly are...MAD!!!

Shouldn't there be a limit on these? PLEASE????

TOO MANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, this is a sore subject with me, because during the year, the networks bombard us with commericals and promotions for sports that (I suspect) the large majority of us couldn't care less about. Think about it:

March Madness
The Final Four
The Olympics.
(feel free to add to the list)

Really... How many people in the rest of the country care about the BYU vs. Baylor game? Most of us have moved on to the NFL, the NBA, and MLB. You know, sports that matter.

As for the Olympics, it seems that ever network that gets them, shoves that stooopid Olympics symbol under theirs taking of 1/4 of the screen, for a low rated and insignificant sporting event that lasts a total of 14 days out 365 every 4 years.

Sorry, I know everyone doesn't feel this way about this, but I'll bet a lot of us do. This is purely the wealthy advertising to the wealthy, who are clearly out of touch with the rest of us who can not afford to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive ski vacations to Aspen, and couldn't give a crap about some alcoholic skier loser wannabe...

Uh... IMHO....

I must respectfully disagree with you. There are many of us that much prefer College Sports to Pro. It is much more exciting. These kids leave their hearts on the floor this time of year. Same with Olympians. It's rare to see professional's behave this way. Frankly professional sports bore me and I barely watch any of it.

March is a very special time of year! April brings the sport withdrawal blues.

I agree that there is more sportsmanship among the college ranks. These kids are fighting for a spot. By the time it gets to the professional level, they get spoiled.

That doesn't make it more excting however. Also, you can't say the same about the Olympics. Well, not the American ski team anyway, or the Hockey team. Did yo see these guys play?

Sorry, I can't go with you there.

The problem ISN'T with the sports! It's the fact that almost every car dealer, restaurant and tatoo parlor uses the phrase "MARCH MADNESS" in their advertising! And for the most part...there's no connection to sports at all!

FYI...there will ALWAYS be some sport activity throughout each month of the entire year! Otherwise...ESPN and ESPN2 would consist entirely of reruns of sporting events from decades ago!
