As I write this on Saturday evening, there are still over 20,000 NU customers without electricity due to the storm that moved through Central CT around 5 pm. I hear that some or all of the Meriden Mountain stations (WPKN, WWYZ, WKSS, WDRC, WPHH and WHCN) went off the air for a few seconds. I would assume due to power problems, and a friend told me that Weaver High School's WQTQ had a dead carrier for about 15 minutes. Did any other CT stations have storm related issues?

Before the storm even came close to Middletown, I was driving on Route 66 and tuning down the dial, I stopped for a moment at 107.7 and noticed I was getting a dead stereo carrier and Jammin' 107.7 fighting head to head, I'm assuming the dead carrier to be WFCS, but who knows.

Damn, I usually leave out WPKT when discussing Meriden's FM stations. Thanks for the correction. (Of course I also left out the 91.9 translator but I can't imagine anyone can hear that very far away what with all the blanketing interference and IM in the immediate area of the mountain).
While on the subject of 93.7 in Meriden, that station aired some extremely unusual programming a number of years ago. Something that I bet no other station has done (certainly not around here). Does anyone remember what it was?

Are you talking about the NOAA weather radio?
(Most likely received from the transmitter two towers over on the WHCN tower...)

I would assume that the 97.5 Translator located in Bolton, which relays WILI-FM is off the air because on NewsChannel 8 at 11PM they said 90% of Bolton had no power.

The Enfield frequency (WPKX) went off for about 6 minutes Saturday night too.

WMNR 88.1 Monroe had an outage for about 15 minutes from what I can gather.
Although I used to be familiar with their entire setup, they recently moved their studios from Masuk High School to an unsuccessful shopping plaza (lantern ridge, main St., Monroe) which now consist of mostly offices, with all new equipment and STL to the original TX site. I have no idea of what the setup is other than that they are running an Omnia6 acquired from WEZN (cox) who I believe is now running Optimod.
The stations of "WMNR Fine Arts Radio" consist of about five gazillion translators as well as three other main channels, WRXC, Shelton, WGRS, Guilford, and another in Kent whose calls I cannot remember right now.
I believe 88.1 came back on first. The others time frame of service restoration is a mystery to me...

I wasn't actually listening during the outage. I tuned in a few minutes later to hear Garrett Stack talking about it.
A few minutes after my post last night I visited their new studios (right down the street) and hung out for a few hours. The new studios are absolutely gorgeous and it was nice seeing some people I haven't seen in years.
