Storm outages

Are you sure it was WMRD last night? Did you hear an ID? It could have been another 1150 via skip. As far as I was told, they had been off until sometime this afternoon(Tuesday). WLIS also went down as a result, except for some segued music today, prior to the WMRD restoration.

Bob my post about WMRD was made Sunday October 30th. So when I said I heard them last night, last night referred to Saturday October 29th.

WDRC-FM is on, but with a weak signal, running Tom Kent, but they sound like they are being fed by phone line right now, RDS is up but only displays "102.9/WDRC-FM" and there is a stereo pilot light but I don't hear stereo (also note, at 2:30pm when I was in the car, I noted them with the same weaker signal with no audio but also in stereo) do they have a backup transmitter at Blue hills? I forget.

Maybe this will finally get Buckley to stream DRC-FM online, so that they don't lose ALL of their listeners during situations like this. I recall a few months ago they were off the air for several hours (I forget if it was after Hurricane/Tropcal Storm irene or a different time), maybe it's God punishing them for not streaming? :)

Tell them how they can avoid paying extra fees for commercials voiced by unionized talent -- which has been Buckley's reason for not streaming since 2001 -- or how streaming can result in positive cashflow and they'll be streaming tomorrow!

Considering how expensive electricity is there you would think the power company could get everyone up and running. A generator only goes for so long. Bet they would be asking for a rate increase - and getting it - if they said that it would be costly to modernize the systems. Of course, nobody is willing to say whether extensive regulation is the reason for the costliness.

The road to West Peak was a disaster , from my understanding , it was impassible (hiking only) for a while.
I believe the power has been restored up there, however.

Doesn't Buckley stream WOR? Aside from that, it's not 2001 any more. Just about every major station in the U. S. streams nowadays, and they replace the over the air spots with internet spots. Problem solved...

No guarantee, but the utility is telling people that about 99% of people should be back up and running by sometime Friday or Sunday...no tellin'.

For charging more than even New York and California and not having more modern systems and means of getting people back online, resulting in people being displaced and otherwise grossly inconvenienced with rotting food, other unnecessary expenditures of displacement and colds the utility should be required to waive all charges for a month to every paying customer.  And nobody cares about what it will cost the utility or its union(s), board members or shareholders.  The utility should have brought on, at a minimum, temporary reinforcement personnel.

If regulations, taxes and fees played a part in the cost of the transmission and delivery of power, and if those who are responsible for those regulations, taxes and fees are still in office and/or on the job, they should be forthwith discharged either by election or by personnel action depending upon who played what part in this havoc.

And let us not forget to save those receipts for generator fuel for reimbursement by the utility.

There are still some spotty outages; however, most of the area was back up and running as of this morning. A friend of mine, farther east is back up and running as well. Still a few patches here and there.

Sunday Evening Update: The clowns at CL&P say everyone should be back with power by Midnite Wednesday.

HOT 93.7's Nancy Barrow just mentioned on her Facebook page that there is still no power at the CBS Radio building in Farmington.

I wonder if it is taking longer because they're located on a side street (Executive Drive) rather than the main road (Scott Swamp Road US Route 6).

Same for Nutmeg TV. They're on Eastview Drive off of Brickyard Road, which (correct me if I'm wrong) is off of Route 4. (Gee if Nutmeg TV had stayed in Plainville instead of moving to Farmington, they would've been back on the air already. West Main in Plainville got its power back several days ago).
