It's a miracle! The Weather Channel is pre-empting Storm Stories to cover Hurriciane Katarina as it heads over Flordida.

They better be. That was a topic today in The Situation Room, so I would HOPE a weather channel would at least try to compete with CNN.

I hate to criticize this wise move by The Weather Channel, but...

Florida's already taken one on the chin from a more powerful hurricane this year. So why are we stopping now to cover the landfall of a Category 1 hurricane?<P ID="signature">______________
The only thing I gotta do is stay terrestrial and die!</P>

Possibly because this could be the start of 72 hours of hell and worry for residents of Florida. The storm was pretty unusual with it moving across the state and staying a hurricane, heading back into the Gulf and forecast to hit the Pensacola to Big Bend area on Sat night as a possible category 3 storm.

And it hit a heavily populated area like Miami/Ft Lauderdale,plus with the incredible amounts of rain and the 1 million plus without power, I think TWC was right to be all over this storm.

I agree. A category 1 hurricane may not be the worst, which it isn't, but it is still dangerous. <P ID="signature">______________
