Joe is a great guy. Remember him from the old WROR-FM. Hope he doesn't go to Julie Andrews' doctor who ruined her signing voice.

Loved the old Joe and Andy (the late Andy Moes) Family morning show on the old WROR (98.5).

If I recall correctly, Joe stayed on at 98.5 with the switch to WBMX from WROR even though they did away with "Joe and Andy". Mix wanted more music and less talk (or something) in the morning and Joe and Andy were well known as big talkers (which was fine with me). Andy left and Joe continued on although it wasnt really the same. Eventually, Joe took some time off for, I believe, vocal chord surgery and it was during his recovery time that Mix chose not to renew his contract and he never came back to WROR. "Joe and Andy" were together for around 10 years I think.

Of course, Andy Moes passed away a couple of years ago. He was co-hosting the WRKO morning show with Peter Blute at the time ( in general...I dont mean to imply he died on the air).

Mix eventually hired John Lander for the mornings whom I sampled for awhile back then but never really liked. And Lander and his crew talk more than JOe and Andy ever did.

Forgot to mention that Joe did come back to the new WROR (105.7) to do afternoon drive. They gave Joe's arrival/comeback huge publicity. This was when WROR first came out of their "dark years" (country music) I think or shortly thereafter.....when WKLB moved from 105.7 down to 96.9 or maybe it was 99.9.

Some of Joe's former 98.5 cronies were at 105.7 at that point like Jimmy Roberts and possibly even JJ Wright. He sounded like the same old Joe ("your friend Joe Martelle") but didnt last long. He seemed to disappear as quickly as he got there.

He also resurrected his "Saturday Night At The Oldies" show (from the original WROR) there for a little while. It was the only time that WROR 105.7 used the word "oldie", which they otherwise have avoided like the plague to avoid identification and confusion with WODS.

Greater Media moved WKLB to 96.9 shortly after they bought 105.7, and subsequently turned it from WKLB into WROR. 96.9 was previously their competing country station WBCS.

A couple of years later they moved WKLB to 99.5. It was never on 99.9, which has been Soft AC WQRC in Barnstable (Cape Cod) for many decades (or if you're northwest out Route 2 it's the Athol station that is now classic rock WNYN, or in the metro southwest it's Holliston High School station WHHB).
