Strange Moment on WHDH (2/11/2009)

For a short time, the picture was shown in widescreen (with black all around the picture; a normal widescreen presentation would have black on top and bottom, but Feud has yet to be seen in widescreen/HD) and then, someone fixed the aspect ratio so those of us watching on a 4:3 TV would see the 4:3 picture properly and not 16:9.

I don't know if WHDH is toying around with their signals as the switchover date gets closer and closer.

I've seen the same thing happen a few times on WBZ at the end of The Price Is Right. When Drew is saying "Help control the pet population, etc.," I've seen the screen switch from widescreen to full screen. Dunno if it's something on the local level or from the network?

On WBZ it's from the Local network. The reason why they do this is so they can scrunch the credits to do a tease for the upcoming local newscast at Noon. I also noticed that a few weeks ago during TPIR, they had school closings at the bottom on the SD feed, but not on the HD feed. I don't know why this is. And on WSBK for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, they scrunch the SD feed, but not the HD feed.
