Strange Song on WDRC-FM HD2

The day they start playing Bobby Vinton's "My Melody of Love" is the day I stop listening!

Seriously, I can't think of any songs played on the HD-2 that sound Polish. I've heard "Sukiyaki" in Japanese and "Dominique" in French and "La Bamba" in Spanish and that German yammering at the beginning of "Snoopy Vs. the Red Baron," but Polish? Beats me.

I wish they would find a way to get artist/title data on the HD-2. I'm occasionally stumped by some of the stuff that gets played, too, especially the instrumentals.

There's also ELO's "Hold On Tight", which is also bilingual.

Don't forget, there's four different versions of Abba's "Waterloo" in different languages - none of which I think charted... Maybe that's what you heard, Marc?

I wish they'd stream, period. Buckley's trying to draw traffic and advertising to the drcfm.com Web site, yet it still sticks to its post-April-2001 (the AFTRA/SAG money grab) no-live-audio policy. I suppose that much of the extra traffic streaming audio might attract would be out-of-market folks checking out all-request Saturday night or in-market folks checking out the HD-2 stream, neither of which particularly helps Buckley or the HD Radio people. Still, if enough people, even out of market, were to start visiting drcfm.com, wouldn't national advertising, rather than the purely local variety now on the site, become a possibility?

As for the "Polish" song, I've never heard anything from later than 1969 on the HD-2 in six months of listening, so that rules out the ELO and ABBA songs mentioned earlier. Last two songs played: "Venus in Blue Jeans" and "Shakin' All Over."
