Strange station on 87.7 downtown Houston

There's apparently this odd station playing Spanish music on 87.7 in downtown Houston. Can anyone hear it?

How do you supposedly hear stations on houston, an antonio and kansas city all the time?

In his defense he didn’t say he heard it. All he said was there’s apparently this odd station playing Spanish music on 87.7 in downtown Houston lol.

There is not a FrankenFM in Beaumont, so it must be a local pirate.

KIPS-LD, Channel 6, is licensed to Beaumont. So, yes, yes you do have a licensed "Franken FM" in Beaumont. Whether or not KIPS-LD is what they are hearing in Houston remains debatable.

nice try..... most of these dont do fm and theres none in houston, san antonio or houston.

I had to look for myself, as I didn't recall ever seeing a receiver listed for Houston on Global Tuners. You are right, SRG, it appears there isn't one. There is, however, an Icom PCR 1500 SDR unit listed available in San Antonio for your listening pleasure, according to the site. For all I know, it may very well be Anyhuman's.

I do agree with your assessment that he didn't learn about this 87.7 operation in Houston from the site, but hey, if he's being fed information from someone on the inside, I say good for him. I'm sure it is quite exciting for him, as a listener who apparently has great interest in the medium, to get a glimpse of what lies behind the scenes through the crack in the open door. I certainly wouldn't want to be in the "informant's" shoes, however, if it ever got back to the ownership.

Nope. That’s been gone for some time after causing interference with other stations.

Really? No one from Omega Media has bothered to file anything telling the FCC about this silence.

That's not mine, but I have used it before actually. Pretty nice if you're not in the San Antonio area, although the quality isn't too good. They use an audio stream to send the audio from the receiver over the Internet to anyone who wants to listen.

As to your other speculation, I have more than one friend in the Houston area actually. Who says nobody on the *outside* of the pirate operation heard it, and told me it was broadcasting?

Hope you have a great day!

That would be a fair argument, until the moment you opened the subject by making a point to publicly tell an online message board that you've been "told to keep your mouth shut" behind the scenes of this forum. I went off what you had already previously stated. Either someone is actually talking to you, and it isn't just some random friend of yours sitting around their apartment in Houston punching a seek button on a receiver, since those same friends aren't going to care if you spread whatever "pertinent information" around, or you're simply seeking attention from the group by saying something like that. An observation on my part, sir, not speculation.

You seem to mention Cesár Güel a lot, as well; again something that I have picked up in your writings. It sounds like SomeRadioGuy has picked up on some of these trends too. One last observation, and I'll quit wasting everyone's time that's bothered to read this book that I've now written in response to you. This thread you started is at page 2, and other than your initial post, no one in Houston has actually confirmed that this "pirate" is on the air.

Hope you have a great day!
I sure will, and you do the same.

I'm AnyHuman, I could be either a sir or ma'am. That about keeping my mouth shut was about 105.3, but whatever. LOL

No, cottonbelt, what ive picked up on is he posts about stations largely no one really cares about or listens to. Go back to all of his posts.. often times hes the only one continuing on in the thread with updates

Since when? I see them posting on their Facebook page. Also mentioning Emilio El Guey coming soon to La Ley 87.7.
It’s not broadcasting, just like AM 1300 hasn’t been on the air either. These clowns must be in Houston that publish their Facebook pages about stations that aren’t actually broadcasting over the air. I have a streaming station myself, but I don’t claim to broadcast on a non functional over the air system.

I broadcast about once or twice a week on 87.7. I rebroadcast Best Smooth Jazz from London with Rod Lucas. It's a very moving broadcast, especially when I go on the road. I have my phone Blue-toothed to my car radio on that frequency. I suppose a car in front, either side or behind me could possibly hear it.

As for 1300 do you mean KHTW, formerly KLLS? They've got an address near Corpus Christi, so they're not in Houston.

The station used to be owned by another member of this board, not sure if he can give us some info as to what's going on...
