Stream the World Vs. other providers

Has anyone had more difficulty connecting to a Stream the World stream than one powered by say Abacast or Liquidcompass? When I check TuneIn under the choose stream option, it seems as if most STW stations are 75% reliable while others are between 90 and 100%. Has anyone else noticed they have more problems? Sometimes I do on certain days, and the STw streams seem to be a little worse than others, but not really that bad.

My guess is the links Tune in are using for the STW stations are not the correct ones.. Stations that typically use STW want to lock you into their custom players or websites to tune in and not 3rd party application.

One of the stations I listen to often uses STW and I listen via that stations website and never have tune in issues or drop outs.

Most of the music stations involving STW (ones owned by CBS and Cumulus - their biggest clients) are now off Tunein. I've never had problems with what stations remain. As far as the actual stability of STW vs. others, STW stations get at least 3 or 4 back ups, some many more. With Abacast, you get one MP3 and one AAC+ stream. Lots of independent, and small market groups sign with Abacast, as well as SecureNet Systems, the new kid on the streaming block. I've run into a few listening issues with the latter, but they do seem to be picking up steam within mid and small market radio. Liquid Compass is a sinking ship, and StreamAudio came too late to the Smartphone/IPhone App party. The worst IMO is Live365. Stations I know involved with them (mostly college) are constantly putting up a "Our Stream is down" status on their Facebook pages.

You get 1 mp3 and 1 AAC? I see 2 AAC streams and an mp3 for KFAT. What's going on over at Liquid Compass? They seem to be on top of everything. As for STW, they are still my favorite streaming provider because they are easy to find stations through unlike Abacast. The only reason I would even considder Abacast is that they are based in Olympia, which is about an hour and a half from where I live. I really don't like there url structure. The nice thing about stw is you can put in any callsign into there universal player and potentially come up with a station. That's how I found KBMX, I don't think you can do that with anyone else. Even the small operator of KXIX had the 75% reliable on there only AAC stream until several weeks ago when one Saturday morning they had a system-wide outage. Now it's back up to 95% but KOSI is already down to 75.

Live 365 also has a lot of individual stations that run out of their house. However because of the restrictions of Live 365 many have opted to stream on other providers such as LoudCity, StreamLicensing.com and others.
