What's the 411 on Atlanta's new hip hop station? Who owns it? Can you even hear it? What is it sounding like? How long will it last?

BUCWHYL, IT SOUNDS GREAT! THEY'RE PLAYING 10,000 SONGS IN A ROW, COMMERCIAL FREE. THE RECEPTION SOUNDS GREAT HEAR IN THE HOUSE ON MY RADIO (15 MILES EAST OF ATL).

Man enjoy it. It seems like nobody is wanting to touch the urban format anymore. Take Houston for instance. They are still at one hip hop station since 93.3 flipped.

This is funny, yet Atlanta still has no real rhythmic or even a station that caters somewhat to dance, or an old school hip hop station.

I say WVEE still wins in the end.

I bet I come back to Atlanta few years later and BAM! there's WVEE!

It will be like
"and grandkids, this is the station I listened to when I was your age! they played Salt n Peppa, Mc Hammer, Heavy D, and WVEE was even there for the birth of Booty Bass.... then came the time when the Timbaland / Neptune style beats were hot... then came Dungeon Family,...50 Cent,... and WVEE was there for that.......... And over here is where Power 99 used to be... .. .....and over here is where...."

Well, lets just wait and see how this unfolds.

3 urbans??!!??

Everybody here in ATL know V-103 wins by defualt. V-103 has the biggest & strongest stick in North Georgia blazin 100,000 watts. The Urban AC KISS 104.1 has beaten them once so far in PPM rartings so it is possible for V-103 to be taken down. A Dance station wouldn't do very well here. The 2 CHR/Pop station we have here lean towards adults and 95.5 THE BEAT, the CHR/Rhythmic wants to be Urban & Pop catering to white teens. HOT 107.9 will always be my #1 choice. 3 Urbans work in other cities like Augusta and Macon so there is no reason why it couldn't work in Atlanta. The new STREETZ 102.9 is just a station to turn to when riding around town or in house within the Atlanta limits. The signal is very spotty in the Metro, but I must say they are blazin the hot hip-hop that ATL loves. STREETZ 102.9 "WE ARE HIP-HOP" sure does take a stab at HOT 107.9 "Digital Hip-Hop" and 95.5 THE BEAT "#1 for Hip-Hop."

I hear this station got knock off the air ( Radio One Sueing )and now this station will become Atlanta Braves ( Baseball ) sports station . ??? ??? ???

In a somewhat related note, I don't know if it has posted here that WZBN "Southern Soul" 105.5 Albany is no more. The station mostly ran the American Blues Network. It had sounded great with a stereo stream from Cumulus. It is no longer owned by Cumulus. The new format is hip hop and the station is now connected to veteran programmer Steve Hegwood.
