Streetz 94.5 is an awful station.......

So I spent most of my off day analyzing Streetz 94.5 and I am not impressed at all. I thought this station had potential to be a great alternative to Hot, but Streetz has A LOT of improvements to make.

Their playlist is like extra extra tight. I think they literally play the same 10 songs on a loop. Even the traffic mix at 5 is just a repeat of these same songs!!! There is so much music not covered in Atlanta that streetz could touch but of course they won't.

No jock from 10-2 thought that was odd.

I really want to like this station. They are a little quicker to add music but not by much.

I honestly don't see this station going anywhere. Especially with the programming or lack of. I swear I wish I could program a station for 6 months...my station would be top 5 definitely!!

Nobody really cares about the little Rinky Dink stations. They get more attention here on the board than they have listeners.

what I can say is Streetz 94.5 is the most listened to translator station in the country
with 400,000 6+ persons !

(very reliable source)

And for all people that want to own and program a station Just do it!
Stop complaining about Clear Channel, Cumulus & Cox Media
If you're as good as you think you are? Get some money and buy a station
there are plenty available.

I figured STREETZ probaly had a large listener base, but of course they don't show up in the 6+. OK, so we all know this is a locally owned and operated station so of course they won't have all the whistles and bells like HOT 107.9 and V103. First off, music wise STREETZ has the EXACT playlist as HOT 107.9 with a little more local and new Hip-Hop. I listen to both everyday so I can assure you this isn't just a one hour sample statement. As far as middays being jockless, it's no different than Clear Channel Urbans nationwide voicetracking Uptown Angela out of Q93 New Orleans. Radio One evens voicetracks middays now between here and Philly. Steve Hegwood consults POWER 107.1 Macon and they too have no jocks in middays. More music in middays, no problem. STREETZ has a decent live, local morning show with Rashan Ali and comercials even take a stab at Rickey Smiley at HOT for having stale old jokes. STREETZ has mixshows, live club broadcast Thursdays through Sundays, contest and live remotes just like HOT 107.9. STREETZ launched heavy on Hip-Hop last year, but just like HOT 107.9, some R&B is on the playlist. Overall, decent station for a limited signal and local operations but the cash has to be flowing in from advertising. I'm glad Hegwood just didn't make this a music jukebox translator like the big guys are now doing. Good Job Hegwood!

lol..i was waiting on you to respond to this...lol

Again, nobody cares about Rinky Dink translators as the majority cannot hear them. I think Ricky Smiley is terrific as being funny goes. Don't like the music but he has a cast of characters that are a lot of fun. I usually watch him at midnight on the syndicated show Dish Nation on ch. 5

Well maybe u should relay your message to corporate radio that believes in putting Urban stations on translators. AMLover, the majority of translators in ATL are heard fine, well here in Lithonia no problem. I too like Smiley, but if it wasn't for his show, Dish Nation would be garbage.

I agree Shawty on Dish Nation. The ONLY reason I watch is for the Smiley Gang. The rest are just plain bad. They know it as most of the segments are from the Smiley show. They are just terrific!

I was in atlanta this weekend...I actually stayed glued to streetz, while I was in union city I rode with a family member, radio was on 94.5.. I thought it was well programmed..and as far as signal limitations I couldn't find any, A class A would be jealous!, in a underground parking deck in downtown atl, I had a strong signal, now Hot 107.9 was a different story, non existent...their signal was breaking up bad in the city. on my way out of atl I held streetz all the way to where 85 North goes back to 2 lanes...

I always think Streetz is a good station! Maybe between this and a tie between 104.1 The Beat in Birmingham and Power 106.1 in Jacksonville. Yes, they spin the hits on a high load, but I think of it this way, "If I wanted the current stuff and a bit of throwbacks, I'll listen!"

He probably got too impatient at awaiting Greg Street to retire. It's not like he was doing a "high profile" job at V or even from now on Streetz. Oh well!

A station with "a large listener base" would show up in the 6+, unless their time spent listening is so horrible their "share" figure is near zero. Unless, of course, being a local station, they can't afford to encode for PPM.

In that case, why would you even be in the business? Just my 2 cents...

He left V103 where he was doing one shift per week to Streez to do one shift per week?

I believe Streetz does show up in the PPM in certain demos. The numbers you see reported on public websites include only the stations that pay for Arbitron.

The Cox Urban translator in Jacksonville rated #1 18-34, but didn't show up in the 6+ numbers so maybe it's certain demos or Hegwood doesn't subscribe. I've heard STREETZ makes decent money off of advertising alone. They have decent jocks like Rashan Ali, Jay Tek and DJ Holiday and they have a big streets presence. I think they're a decent locally own Urban station having way more freedom of songs they can play versus Radio One and CBS here. I still think Hegewood will find anyway possible to run the Old School 1010 format on a FM translator. With Kiss and Majic skewing late 80s, 90s and 00s R&B, Urban Oldies is the only Urban format not in ATL.

Odd, but true. Maybe V103 is going in a "different direction" and let him go.
