Stretching Your Memory: What is the oldest song you remember when it was new?

Little did you know that 40+ years later, you'd still be hearing that song on the radio, probably more often than you want to! First song I remember hearing and wanting the 45 was "I'm Henry VIII I Am" in 1965. That one has disappeared from the airwaves.

As a kid I was impressed with the way the verses on "Happy Together" are sung sweet and softly and then that HUGE chorus.

With the way mid 60's oldies are being chased off Classic Hits stations I dont mind hearing "Together" on the radio now and then. I have several copies of it on CD too.

I think "Happy Together" and "Elenore" are the only Turtles songs left on today's classic hits stations. The station up here, WDRC-FM, used to play "It Ain't Me Babe," "She'd Rather Be With Me," "You Baby" and even "She's My Girl" up until a couple of years ago. They were all cleared out of the playlist to make room for all those Madonna and Huey Lewis songs.
