Strong VHF Propogation

Don't know if any of y'all have noticed but the VHF-FM band has been really opening up lately.

Case in point...I commuted from my home in North Dallas to work in Midlothian today. While on the road, I listened to KNUE/Tyler for most of the trip. It was rolling in as strong as Dallas locals. In fact, I passed the Cedar Hill stick farm while listening to KNUE with a full-quieting signal. I was loving it. ;D

For fellow hams in the crowd, your 2-meter band is most likely opening up as well. I would verify but I do not currently have my 2m mobile rig installed in my car (I know...shame on me).

There is a thread on the Dallas/Fort Worth board talking about this very topic as well. Might be worth a read. http://radiodiscussions.com/smf/index.php?topic=238887.0

Have fun and happy DXing!
