Although there's been a lot of discussion on the boards about whether HD radio is going to eventually take off/disappear forever, ultimately it's not going to be the radio industry people and radio enthusiasts who are going to decide HD radio's fate; it's the general public. It doesn't appear the public at large knows what HD radio is, and those that do, don't really seem to care for various different reasons. I figure HD will probably wind up in much the same status as AM stereo does today. Some stations will still be broadcasting with it 10-20 years from now, but hardly anyone will be listening to it. Although HD radio is still in its infancy and maybe its future will eventually play out differently, but that seems to be the reality of it, unfortunately. I've listened to several HD2 stations online, and I'm not impressed enough to dole out the money for a radio which isn't offering much to me, the primary reason being programming.
Just curious...have there ever been any studies on people who have purchased HD radios and their thoughts about the product, i.e. reception, sound quality, programming from HD2, HD3 stations? I remember reading on one of these boards about someone returning his/her HD radio to the store. That would be interesting, too, (if it's possible) to determine what percentage of those buying HD radios returned them to the store for a cash/other merchandise refund since it stands to reason most people would return merchandise for refunds if they weren't satisfied with the product, overall.
