Studio 1040 Knoxville is now WKTI

Noticed today at 5pm that the TOH ID on AM 1040 was "WKTI Powell, Knoxville"

WKTI is/was a heritage call sign for a once successful FM station in Milwaukee which also happens to be owned by Journal and which also changed formats last week. I guess Journal is just "parking" the call letters here.

Yup, that's ALL they're doing, just parking them.. nothing more. parking 'em so no one else can get them.

'America's Best Music' is the moniker...it's kinda adult standards, more of a hint of 70s AC though than it used to be.

It was MOYL until their split with Jones in January. Then "Studio 1040" became an affiliate of the Jones standards format. When Jones ended their standards on October 1st, they became an affiliate of Dial Global's "America's Best Music" format. It's quite good actually, and a bit more modern for those who may have felt Music of Your Life was too old. I hope 1040 sticks with it.

Having spent 10 years in East Tennessee, and having grown up listening to WKTI, this is interesting. I thought Bob Reitman came out of retirement and moved to Knoxville when I first saw this post.

As long as Milwaukee keeps Lipps LaBelle....I kid, I kid....
