Studio 108

Has anyone had a chance to listen to that new guy who does Studio 108 on WEBE? I listened last night and it sounded awesome!

Any thoughts?

I think its Jose Colon who really does a nice job. He hasn't been at that shift too long but he has settled in nicely.

I will admit that Studio 108 is a guilty pleasure for me. They have had thier share of different hosts over the years with varying degrees of success, but it's kind of a hard show to screw up.

I give WEBE credit for sticking with this "niche" show for so long. Thier sister station WICC dumped thier fairly successful saturday night oldies show sometime back, and I really thought that Sat. Nights on WEBE were also getting a makeover

It was sad to see such a good show with a huge following go like that. Mark Edwards does a great job, is he still accross the water in LI?

Wonder if this will help:

And in a sense WICC has returned to Saturday Night oldies--but despite the presence of Mr WICC Big Al Warren ON VOICE TRACK, it's not the same. But have to hand it to WICC and their Oh Wow Oldies Show for the effort. Perhaps WABC's Saturday Night Oldies program served as some kind of start point.

I would venture to say it was Mark Edwards himself that started it, at least local to WICC. He was able to prove there's an audience for music on AM in the area. I don't know the reason why Mark parted company with WICC, but at least his show lives on, as it was a unique offering that he produced very well. I would think that the Saturday evening oldies show is relatively cheap for them to produce (who knows how much they pay Al to VT the shift). The only other expense is music royalties and since the station is talk 90%+ of the week this should be peanuts.

As far as NYC radio goes, I think a combination of the yearly "Rewound" shows and the death of CBS-FM helped the Saturday Night show take off on WABC

Back on topic, I know I heard Long John Michaels and Kevin Quinn in the past doing Studio 108, I'll have to check out this new host.
