Studio Backup singers

I've been wondering now some time....

Play "Something's Burning" by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. Listen to the backup singers.
Now play some songs by The Partridge Family....

Are not some of these voices the same? Or is it just the sound of that time?
I hear some uncannily similarities. Does anyone know if these were the same backup singers?

I remember that Paul McCartney and Wings released "With a Little Luck" back in 1978, when I was in eighth grade. At that time, Partridge Family reruns were on a local TV station near where I lived at the time. When I heard "With a Little Luck," I could just about picture Shirley Jones (instead of Linda McCartney) doing the backing vocals on that one.

Only Similarity...... both groups had TV Shows.

I know the back-up singers for Lou Christies hit "Rhapsody" and "Lightning" were The Angels ('Til , Thank You And Goodnight, and (yuk) My Boyfriends Back). The Back-up singers on many Cameo-Parkway hits for Chubby Checker and others were The Dreamlovers.

I always thought that Lou Christie did his own back-up with lots of over dubs.

They were back-up for "Rhapsody" and "Painter".......wasn't aware of "Lightning" ??

Other back-up singers The Fontane Sisters on some of Pery Como's biggest hits.

This is not totally correct about The Angels. I read that only ONE of them actually sang on Lou's tracks. Go to musicradio77.com's message boards...the OLDIES one and there is a guy who posts on there who knows the women or managed a couple of singers who DID sing on it WITH one of the Angels. Follow that?

Joel whitburn..listed Angels as backup singers on Rhapsody, under Lou Christie.......he also lists under the Angels the following..."back-up Singers for Lou Christie In the 60's". Barbara Allbut left the group early on and during the mid-sixties Peggy left the group, leaving only Jiggs as the only original member touring (with a couple of replacements), this may be the time period that Rhapsody was recorded. This is what your source meant that only one original Angel was on the record. Peggy rejoined the group and she and Jiggs have touring as the Angels (duo) Up to 2008, since then, the most current Angels are Jiggs Allbut, Peggy Santiglia, and Jiggs daughter Kelly Hugo.
