Studio Door Hinges Need Servicing?

Hi,

Our studio door hinges need servicing. They're worn out, and yesterday one in particular went from difficult to impossible.

I was once told these doors are lead-lined and weigh about a ton each, and require a hydraulic lift to un/re-mount.

There's a plate on the jamb that's painted over and hard to read, but I can make out the word "Acoustics".

Does anyone know how I can get this door serviced? This would be in the DC area.

Thanks.

Thanks, I made contact with IAC and they referred me to the local service company. We have an appointment for the week after next.

You're welcome. Those are great doors when they work right. I had six studios all made out of IAC panels and doors, and not a leak of sound at the highest volumes between them.

Local dealer just fixed three of our ten. The sweeps and closers needed adjustment on several. One had to be taken down and the hinges cleaned and polished. They brought new hinges if needed, but they're several hundred dollars, we were pleased they could be cleaned up and shined. The Door Guy said usually they can clean all the old grease and crud out, polsih off any rough spots, and re-lube them. We got a good result.
