STUNTING IN PHILADELPHIA

Long time religious station WKDN-FM Trenton is now All Hannity All the Time. Merlin made the announcement today. Obviously this is a stunt and this is where Limbaugh, Levin, Beck, etc., are all headed in Philly. The interesting thing is that while Merlin is banking on this a lot, conservative talk has never really worked all that well in Philly. From what I know, Limbaugh got fairly decent numbers, but was never dominant and the only conservatives who did well there were the late Frank Rizzo at the old WCAU and Bob Grant in his WWDB days. Yanking Limbaugh from WPHT was a risk, I think, and so is the new 106.9 FM, which I believe will have the call letters WWIQ.

Here’s the story from Radio On Line (note Hannity’s little “rush” clue near the end) and the link.

Merlin/Philly Goes All Hannity, All the Time
After a year away, Sean Hannity returns to the Philadelphia in a big way as The Sean Hannity Show returns 24 hours a day, seven days a week on Merlin Media's new Hannity 106.9FM! The station is flipping WKDN/Trenton, NJ from religious programming to Hannity having acquired the station last December. In an interesting press release, Merlin makes the announcement in the form of a personal letter from Hannity as follows:

"After a year away, I'm back on PHILADELPHIA radio -- and you don't have to wait to hear me. The SEAN HANNITY Show returns 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's all-SEAN HANNITY, all the time on PHILADELPHIA's newest radio station, HANNITY 106.9 FM. Set a button for non-stop me on the station all about me ... There are lots of big plans for HANNITY 106.9 FM, including some involving you. We'll figure it out together, so I'm in no rush to say more at this time." (04-16-12)

I never said it wasn't interesting; I just thought it was strange to see it posted here when there are several threads about it on the Philly board.
