Stutter Effects

Sony has a stutter effect, but I don't think it's what you're looking for. The best way to do a stutter is the manual way. If you use Audition, go into the multitrack window, highlight the portion of the block you want to stutter, use the slice tool to separate it from the rest of the block and then right-click > clip duplicate. You can also just manually copy and paste in the edit window or with Sound Forge.

That is the best way!

Eric Chase has said that in protools you can stutter "on the grid" which means that your session tempo can determine the stutter frequency. That can make the stutter a lot more intersting with Beatmixes, etc. Plus, you can pan the stutter snippets or add effects to make it sound more exciting and different.
To be honest, the stutter is a bit old-school- but if it sounds good, it is good!

> With Adobe Audition you can also set up the part you wish to stutter and manually adjust the pitch for some interesting fx. I have also used keyboards patched into the console at a couple of stations. Makes it easy to do all knids of stutters and stutter runs up and down the keyboard.

OR..you can drink several juice glassfulls of George Dickel, and hit yourself in the head with a grapefruit repeatedly while saying the text that you want stuttered. Even if it doesn't record right, it sounds stuttered that way.

Normally, I'd ask where the fun is in that, but that actually sounds like something I'd be willing to try :)
