Suburban Indy radio

Martinsville...WCBK...... Good Local Radio the way it should be. They actually have a fully live staff during the day, and actually give useful local information when bad weather hits, also school and business closings, power outages and everything else. Martinsville is not a good place to live, having a local radio station thats actually live, and not a 24/7 Bird Feeder is all it has going for it.

Of the ones Herschel mentioned, I'd say Fishers (I think that is the WFMS COL of the moment). Shelbyville is disqualified easily, as is 98.3. WZPL might have an argument.

But the Clubber has a very good point. There are very few stations like WCBK these days. I'm not a huge fan of the music programming, but the stuff between the songs is good and local.

Of these suburban Indy FM radio stations, which is the best? Greenfield, Shelbyville, Plainfield, or Fishers?
WZPL is Going for Indy more than it is Greenfield, WLHK is aiming more for Indy than Shelbyville, WRDZ is a bird Feeder for Radio Disney than it does anything for Plainfield. and When was the last WRWM and/or WFMS Remote in Fishers was. Let alone the last WJJK remote in Noblesville, WTLC-FM Remote in Greenwood, or how is WKLU Targeting Brownsburg these days with its Studios in Casleton. and how are the Hispanics in Danville enjoying WEDJ. non of the Suburban rimshotters are going for its COL At all.

Oasis is a programming genius. Brownsburg is not worthy!

Somebody in Brownsburg should copy this response and then contest the next attempt by Oasis to renew the license of its B'burg station before the FCC. The FCC is guaranteed to investigate and will only investigate license renewals when there are community complaints. This shows that the station owner has no interest in serving the city of license.

This leads to a bigger point. It should no longer be a valid argument to say that by serving Indianapolis a station is serving its city of license.

What are you suppose to do, tell people in Indianapolis not to listen, or not to advertise. Why would a station turn it's back on that kind of money to serve a small area that can't support a station? Quinns proved you can't make money in Brownsburg.

There's too much of an investment in quality equipment to only serve Brownsburg. A radio station is a business to make money. Someone in Brownsburg should have bought the station if they want it to be their own neighborhood jukebox.

How much service does WZPL give Greenfield? Why pick on WKLU only?

Wait a minute! Bruce Quinn had his studio in Brownsburg. So, since when does a studio location
have anything to do with community service. Quinn's advertising came from Indianapolis too.

KLU bashers!!!

Is this true? Is Radio Ho really the owner of WKLU? Surely not. Unless he is into going back and forth with himself on a regular basis, which seems highly unlikely he would have the time to do that. But if that is true it has to be one of the greatest hoaxes in radio history. Everyone believing that he was quarreling with somebody only to have it be himself. Not sure what he would be trying to prove by doing that other than cause grief for former employees? But Radio Ho/OldSkool has been very entertaining.

KLU bashers!!!

Quinn's had actual LOCAL community affairs programming with Irma White, they did LOCAL high school football, basketball broadcasts that served the community, their LOCAL remotes were with LOCAL businesses. They weren't brilliant with their format choices, but they DID serve the LOCAL community, as well as Indianapolis.

What does KLU do now to serve Hendricks County? Nothing. Complete Indianapolis.

For the record, I was also a HITLER and NAZI basher - and proud of it. Bashing people that are wrong, and have been proven wrong is nothing to be ashamed of.

Truth hurts. Start hurling more insults to cover the misgivings of the format, ownership and service to the CITY OF LICENSE!

How many members of the WKLU staff does it take to defend the management? The world may never know!

Seriously, great fodder guys. Keep it up. It makes my boring days at work go by so much quicker.

Since when WFMS became a station located (in all places) Fishers?

WFMS was Indy's FM country station after as stint as beautiful music back in the day.
