Such thing as a one-hour syndicated weekday talk show?

As we look to fill the 10a-noon hole created by our (long overdue) decision to oust Dennis Miller, we've decided to extend our local talk show by an hour -- so that takes care of the 10a hour. But we still need something in the 11a hour to bridge from the local talk show to Smerconish, which starts at noon.

Is anyone carrying any daily syndicated shows that *make sense* to only air for one hour?

Thanks for any thoughts. Everyone's replies to my previous posts about the 10a-noon time slot were very helpful, and led us to explore a few options we hadn't thought of.

If Dr. Dean Edell was still around I'd suggest him.

Roger Hedgecock's producer Brett Winterble does a pre-recorded talk show intended for weekdays. I can't tell if it's one hour or three hours though.

GCN has two hour long shows at 11 AM. "Crash! Are You Ready?" and "The Bright Side" which both focus on health issues.

There's Jim Blasingame's small business show. It's also pre-recorded and offers two hours daily. The downside is it has a lot of commercials, 7:00 network 16:20 local, and is structured so the program has 6 segments.

Can you grab just an hour of Clark Howard or Dave Ramsey (assuming you aren't already carrying them or they aren't being carried elsewhere in the market). The hours are pretty well self-contained. I'm not aware of another hour long show

I can't understand Miller because he kind of mutters and snickers...he was OK on the Leno TV show. They have that Dr Dolly, but she might be too much for morning...why don't you find some local doctors, attorneys and vets to do shows?

So the question is...is there a market for something like this. I was having a conversation with someone yesterday about a musician who wants to get into talk but not be political. More of a lifestyle type show (think Regis for radio). I think that there is a growing market for something like this and around the noon hour would make perfect sense to me.

Would be interested to know your thoughts on this as well.

I appreciate all of the ideas, and I find the local attorney/doc/vet idea to be especially compelling. That sort of thing has come up in our discussions, as well, but the challenge we face is a lack of resources to develop such an individual as talk show talent, helping them understand what makes good radio through regular airchecks, etc. That said, there are those rare and talented folks who already possess that knowledge -- maybe it's time for us to seek out such a person (or people) and simply find the local resources to dedicate to that time slot. After all, when done right, LOCAL talk programming is the most relevant.

How about Infomercials? I know it is a unpopular suggestion but I know a few talk stations using infomercials too.
